While Raymond and her uncles bristled with fury, Isabella studied Preston’s medical tributes with narrowed eyes.
Dextro–2?
A Neuro–Blocker?
While she doubted Andre possessed the nerve to overtly poison Steven Wayne, she couldn’t shake the concern that the formula harbored hidden toxicity.
Yet this was clearly neither the time nor the place to raise alarms, lest it ruin the celebratory atmosphere.
Keeping her thoughts to herself, Isabella paid no mind to Preston’s theatrics and turned to take her leave.
She couldn’t be bothered to stoop to his level.
The man was a dying insect on borrowed time, so why stir up
trouble now?
Watching Isabella walk away without uttering a single word, Preston’s expression darkened slightly.
His calculated provocations had been specifically designed to bait her temper.
If she threw a tantrum during Steven’s gala, the entire elite room would view her with distaste as an ill–mannered, entitled brat.
He had never expected her to remain so unmoved.
Raymond Sinclair’s granddaughter was unnervingly composed for her age.
Having failed to provoke a scene, Preston could only take his leave in quiet frustration.
After all, Steven Wayne hadn’t invited him to linger at the table.
And an endless line of well–wishers was already pressing forward.
Standing around like an uninvited guest would only make him look boorish.
Isabella made her way into the adjacent lounge.

Crowded into the northeast corner, a clear perimeter surrounded them, with other guests keeping a respectful distance.
Spotting Isabella walk through the doors, Jasper’s eyes lit up as he waved enthusiastically, “Bella, over here!”
His voice carried across the room.
Their clique had already been the focal point of the salon.
And with Noah being the son of the host, countless eyes had been tracking their every move.
The moment they hailed Isabella, subtle, curious glances converged upon her from every angle.
Her expression remained unfazed as she strolled over to Noah’s couch, arching a brow, “Why are you all huddled in this corner?”
She glanced around, noting the alcove was rather tucked away compared to the main hall.
“Too loud. Too annoying.”
Noah grumbled with a disinterested shrug.
Pouting slightly, he looked up at Isabella with eager curiosity, “You arrived with the Carters? What did you end up getting for my dad?”
He leaned in with burning anticipation.
“Jealous?”
Watching his eager face, Isabella laughed softly, “It’s a bespoke desk seal crafted specifically for Mr. Wayne–you don’t stand a chance.”
Pausing, she retrieved a sleek velvet box from her evening clutch, adding, “Though I prepared custom gifts for you and Ethan as well.
“Tailored specifically for the two of you.”
The moment she said that, Noah’s eyes flared with pure delight.
“At least you’ve got a heart and didn’t leave me out!”
He took the velvet case from her hands with a smug, proud grin.

Jasper teased from the couch, “Look at you acting like a spoiled brat—it’s your dad’s birthday today, not yours!
