Princess Margaret’s POV:
“No… there’s no need.”

I slumped back into my chair, feeling as if every ounce of strength had been drained from my body.
My voice was hoarse, filled with humiliation and unwillingness.
“Family matters like this shouldn’t be dragged into public,” I said, grasping for a clumsy excuse. “For something this small, there’s no need to involve the enforcement unit and stir up chaos across the city. It’s not worth it. I … I won’t lower myself to argue with a junior.”

Every word felt like chewing glass and forcing it down.
“Margaret is truly magnanimous,” Ryken said lightly. The sarcasm in his tone hit my face like a slap.
I stood up, unwilling to stay another second. This place was no longer my refuge. It was my courtroom.
“Mother, I’m not feeling well. I’ll be heading back.”
I did not wait for Mother’s reply. I did not even spare a glance at my sister-in-law, who had been lurking in the corner enjoying the show. I fled Stillwater Palace in disgrace.
As I stepped outside, I glanced back at the tightly shut doors.
Cindy. Ryken. Just you wait.
If Mother wouldn’t support me, I still had other ways.
Queen Isabella’s POV:
Watching my overbearing sister-in-law flee with her tail between her legs like a defeated rooster, I almost wanted to jump up and cheer.
It felt incredible. Truly incredible.
For so many years, Margaret had kept me crushed under her thumb. She mocked my background, my taste, and even my son. Today, she finally hit a wall. And it was the kind of loss she could not even complain about.
I couldn’t help covering my mouth as a few quiet laughs slipped out.
“It seems you’re in a good mood, Isabella,” the Queen Mother’s aged voice suddenly spoke.
I jumped in surprise.
I quickly wiped the smile from my face and put on a composed expression. “Mother, I only felt that Margaret went too far this time. We were fortunate that His Majesty handled things wisely.”

King Ryken had already excused himself to deal with state affairs, leaving only the Queen Mother and me
in the room.
The Queen Mother dismissed the attendants. The kindly grandmotherly look vanished from her face, replaced by the sharp authority of someone who had weathered countless storms.
“Do you think Cindy helped you get revenge?” the Queen Mother asked, her tone heavy with meaning.
“I … yes, a little,” I admitted, not daring to lie.
“Foolish,” the Queen Mother snorted softly.
I froze. “Mother?”
“Do you really think Cindy did this to help you?” the Queen Mother shook her head. “That girl is far more calculating than she looks. Why did she dare to expose this at the banquet? Because she knew Margaret would never dare to let it be investigated. This was a counterstrike She turned what Margaret valued most, her reputation, into a blade.”
