Prince Adam’s POV:
At the same time.
Just one wall away.
I sat cross-legged on the bed, trying to calm the tension of the entire day through meditation.

But this damned rural inn had walls so thin they might as well have been pasted together with two sheets of paper.
As a top-tier Alpha, my senses were already overly sharp. At that moment, even the sound of a pin dropping next door could pierce straight into my ears, let alone Cindy’s voice.
I didn’t want to eavesdrop, but her voice seemed to carry some kind of spell. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t shut out the sound.
At first, when I heard her explaining the truth about the annihilation of the Silverpeak Pack to that child, every word felt like it was tearing open a wound.
My heart tightened involuntarily, my brows knitting hard.
This woman swallowed all her pain whole, then used such a calm tone to teach a child how to stand tall and live with dignity.

My wolf spirit, Fenrir, was howling furiously in my mind. “Calm down, Prince Adam. She’s just comforting the child. That was something she made up to get Astra to accept you. It was a stopgap measure.”
“I know. Of course I know it’s probably not true,” I shot back mentally. “But damn it, could you please shut up for a moment?”
At that instant, emotion completely shattered my defenses.
My heart felt as if it had been struck hard by a hammer named happiness, sending a jolt through my scalp and making my fingertips tremble.
“She likes me…”
O
I murmured those words to myself, feeling as though I were standing on clouds, lightheaded and unsteady.
