“Yes.” Winnie carefully untied the bundle she was holding. “She said Your Majesty isn’t just Prince Adam’s mother but also the sharpest eye in the whole kingdom. Mr. Silva wanted to keep this painting for himself, but Duchess Spencer begged him. She said only this piece could match Your Majesty’s elegance.”
As the scroll slowly opened, gasps echoed across the hall.
It was a vast, snowy mountain scene.
Towering peaks pierced the clouds. Golden sunlight spilled over endless white snow.
The way light and shadow played together was unreal. The snow looked cold, but that single ray of sun made it feel warm, sacred, and untouchable.
In the bottom right corner, tiny letters read, “The Kingdom Under the Sun.”
“Oh my
God…”
“This is incredible…”
“I can almost feel the sun on my skin…”
Even the socialites who had been cursing Cindy fell silent, completely captivated by the painting’s power.
Fiona finally found her voice. “This is Mr. Silva’s masterpiece! Duchess Spencer is unbelievably generous to give this to Her Majesty. It really shows how much she respects and cares for Her Majesty!”
I stared at the painting, heart racing.
It made me look amazing.
And the title-The Kingdom Under the Sun-was basically calling me the brightest, most dazzling woman in the court.
Most of my anger melted away, replaced by a flicker of guilt.
I’d ignored Cindy and let people mock her. But she didn’t get mad. She went out of her way to make me look good.

Her thinking was way ahead of mine.

“Hmph,” Margaret’s sour voice cut in. “It’s just a landscape. Everyone knows Oliver is better at portraits. A landscape? That’s half-hearted.”
I looked at her twisted, jealous face and didn’t back down this time.
“You’re wrong, Margaret.” I smiled, brushing my fingers over the frame. “I hate hanging portraits in the palace anyway. Faces in a stiff pose aren’t inspiring. Mountains and rivers like this? That moves me. Cindy gets me.”
Margaret froze, words stuck in her throat.
“There’s more!”
Adam’s Beta butler, Julian, entered with several attendants, each carrying a painting.
“Your Majesty, Her Grace said joy is meant to be shared. She especially chose more of Mr. Silva’s works for everyone to enjoy. If any of you like one, you may take it home. Consider it a small gift from her.”
“What? More?!”
“That’s insanely generous!”
The scene erupted.
Socialites stopped caring about etiquette and surged forward.
One painting showed werewolf soldiers in battered armor standing on a city wall, facing a sky with blood moons and a vampire army,
It was bleak and tragic, yet fierce with defiance.
Fiona, tears in her eyes, pointed. “This is … The Evernight Gorge Defense! Look at them! This is our Northmere! Without the former Silverpeak Pack Alpha and those soldiers fighting for us, would we even be here sipping tea?”
She scanned around. “Some people only gossip, clueless about what happens on the front lines. Her Grace earned her glory in blood, not in bed! Peace bought with lives deserves respect!”
Margaret turned gloomy. She sneered. “Then she’s an idiot. Risking her life for fortune? Ever think she might not live to enjoy it?”
