Chapter 26 The Royal Court’s Decree

James’s POV:

My mind felt as if it were shattered. My anger, pride, and usual sense of control crumbled beneath the weight of Prince Adam’s brilliant, sun–like gaze. All that remained was stunned disbelief and a flicker of something I stubbornly refused to admit–fear.

My wolf spirit growled uneasily, sensing the overwhelming pressure of royal blood and authority pressing down on me.

“James, Alpha of the Duskfang Pack.” Prince Adam’s voice rang out—calm, regal, and clear— breaking the tense silence over the gathered crowd, “I come by my father, King Ryken’s command. It seems my timing is perfect.”

His eyes danced with a knowing smile as they briefly passed over Evelyn’s pale, shocked face, then fixed on Cindy standing tall below, before finally returning to me.

I swallowed my shock and gave a stiff bow. “Your Highness, Prince Adam, it is an honor beyond words. Please forgive us for not properly receiving your arrival. May I ask what important orders the Royal Court brings with you?”

My thoughts raced. Could Cindy have taken this all the way to King Ryken? But the crown prince himself? That was unheard of.

Even if the prince came to beg for Cindy’s sake, the pack’s collective will wouldn’t change. Not even King Ryken could easily override that.

At best, Cindy might be allowed to stay in the Duskfang Pack …

Prince Adam’s lips curled into a sly, meaningful smile as he announced loudly, “By decree of my father, King Ryken, and the Royal Court Elders, I proclaim three declarations today!”

His voice, amplified by his wolf power, carried across the entire square. Every wolf held their breath, waiting.

“First!” His tone took on a weighty solemnity. “From this day forward, the Silverpeak Pack of Northmere is officially restored! Its lands, its heritage, and its honor are now protected under Royal Court law. No tribe shall dare to trespass upon it!”

The Silverpeak Pack restored? That was Benjamin’s old pack, crushed long ago by vampires!

“Second!” Prince Adam continued without pause I hereby appoint Cindy, daughter of Benjamin, the Alpha of the Silverpeak Pack, as the new Alpha of the Silverpeak Pack! Effective immediately! She will inherit all honors and duties from her father and lead the Silverpeak Pack to reclaim Northmere’s former glory!”

His words hit like a thunderclap. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! Cindy… made Alpha of the Silverpeak Pack? On what grounds?

I whipped my head toward her. She stood unnervingly calm, as if she had been waiting for

this moment.

This was impossible! How could she have known

Evelyn’s face twisted with rage and jealousy: her fiery figure trembled, barely able to contain her fury.

“Third“” Prince Adam’s voice turned solemn. filled with reverence. “In honor of Benjamin’s family’s sacrifices to the kingdom, and to atone for the Royal Court’s previous disregard for this heroic lineage, the King and the Council grant Cindy the honorary title of Duchess of Silverpeak. May she honor her ancestors and bring new glory to the kingdom!”

Duchess of Silverpeak?!

My blood boiled. Jealousy and bitterness clawed at my mind.

An honorary title! How many Alphas had dreamed of such a distinction? I risked everything for the Royal Court, yet never once received praise from King Ryken! When the chance came. I gave it up to secure Evelyn’s status as Luna…

And now, this honor had gone to the woman I was about to exile?!

This was unfair!

Cindy’s POV:

As Prince Adam declared each decree and title, a storm of emotions churned inside me.

The Silverpeak Pack was restored… I was the new Alpha … Duchess of Silverpeak …

It all happened so fast, the weight of it almost overwhelming. I had only hoped to obtain King Ryken’s Bond–Breaking Order to finally sever ties with James. Never did I expect him to grant me such a powerful honor and responsibility that could change my entire fate.
