The wooden bed was rock-hard, but what really kept me awake was the fire burning in my chest.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Prince Niall’s wrinkled, greasy, arrogant face. He looked like a disgusting toad with its mouth wide open, trying to swallow me whole.
“Dammit!”
I sat up and punched the wooden bed. Thud. The sound was dull but loud in the quiet room.
“Cindy!” I whispered, my voice shaking with pure rage. “I can’t take it! This is eating me alive. I feel like I’m gonna explode!”
Cindy sighed in the dark and sat up. She pulled he blanket back over her shoulders. “What now? It’s the middle of the night. Are you planning to tear the house down or something?”

the Silverpeak Pack, the Blaze Pack, even the Academy would be wiped out for ‘treason and killing royalty. Do you want to drag your whole family and thousands of innocent pack members into a grave just to kill him?!”
She shut me down so hard I felt like a balloon losing air. I immediately went quiet.
I knew she was right.
Assassinating a prince was treason.
I was impulsive, but I’d never gamble with my family’s life.
“I-I was just venting…” I mumbled, feeling defeated as I flopped back onto the bed.
Cindy sighed, and her voice softened.
