Chapter 359 Your Mother Is Dead
Cindy’s POV:
The words “Coldmoon Monastery” struck the hal like a sudden thunderclap.
In an instant, the air froze.
The fake, kindly smile on Prince Niall’s face stiffened completely. The teacup in his hand. trembled violently, and scalding tea splashed on o his brocade robe. Yet he did not seem to notice at all.
Leanna’s heavily powdered face turned pale at once. Instinctively, she edged closer to Prince Niall, a flash of panic and guilt flickering in her yes.
Behind them, the reactions of the three children were all different.
“Coldmoon Monastery…” Lucien, the thin male mega, swayed as if the bones had been pulled out of his body.
He suddenly lifted his head, and his once dull eyes filled with red veins. He stumbled forward a few steps and spoke in a trembling voice that cracked with fear.
“My mother… Did you go to see my mother? H-low is she? Is she alright?”
I felt no sympathy looking at the only one who seemed to have a trace of conscience. There was only endless sorrow and a rage that I could barely suppress in my heart.
“So now you remember to check on your mother?”
I stepped forward and stared coldly at Lucien. My voice was sharp as a blade. “If you care so much about her, why didn’t you go see her yourself? From the day she was driven out of the castle and locked away in that monastery that feels like an ice cellar, how many times did you visit her? Do you know what she ate every day? Do you know how much blood she coughed up each day?”
Lucien retreated again and again under my relentless questions. As he covered his face in pain, tears streamed through the gaps between his fingers. “I-I wanted to, but I was assigned to border patrol duty. I have heavy patrol tasks every day. If I leave my post without permission, I will be punished by military law, I really couldn’t leave!” he explained weakly.
