The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 112

Four black sedans pulled up one after another at the Havenport project's main office and rolled to a stop on the open lot outside the container offices.

The project team, having been notified in advance, was already waiting by the door. Seeing the lead Maybach, the chief engineer hurried forward with an umbrella.

"Mr. Shawn." The chief engineer looked respectfully at Elias stepping out of the car.

Elias hadn't even spoken, yet an oppressive aura emanated from him, making the engineer's nerves tighten involuntarily with fear.

"Mr. Slate, let's go straight to the conference room. Mr. Shawn wants a full report on the project's damages," Hawk said, following close behind Elias.

Mr. Slate nodded immediately, gesturing with his hand. "Mr. Shawn, Assistant Hawk, the conference room is this way. All the area supervisors are already inside."

Elias strode toward the conference room without a word.

Half an hour later.

"Because we made preparations in advance, the damage to facilities in Zone A and the newly developed Zone B is relatively light. Only some equipment short-circuited due to water damage. Zones C and F experienced landslides. The landslide in Zone C damaged the container dormitories, and five workers were injured. They are currently in the hospital, and their condition is critical." Mr. Slate summarized the damage reports he had collected. He finished in one breath, swallowing nervously as he looked at the expressionless man. "Mr. Shawn, that is the current situation."

Having workers hurt this early in the project was serious; mishandling it could blow up into a scandal they'd never outrun.

"Hawk, confirm the condition of those five workers and get them the best medical team available. Also, halt the project for now. Wait for the head office's project department to compile a complete list of all damages before we proceed," Elias commanded methodically.

CRACK-BOOM!

Lightning flashed, followed by a deafening clap of thunder.

Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced Elias's chest, as if something vital had been ripped from his heart, leaving him with a dizzying sense of loss and panic.

His brow furrowed. Before he could process what was happening, someone burst in from outside.

"Mr. Shawn!"

Elias looked up, his gaze falling on the intruder.

Seeing Sunny, Mr. Slate's face flashed with panic. He rushed over, grabbing her arm and trying to pull her out. "Designer Lewis, what are you doing here? Didn't I tell you—"

"Don't touch me!" Sunny wrenched her arm free. "Mr. Shawn, Mr. Slate is lying to cover his own mistakes!"

Mr. Slate shot back, his voice thick with false indignation, "Sunny, I told you I wouldn't agree to your unreasonable demands. Are you trying to frame me now out of spite?"

Sunny breathed a sigh of relief, seeing that Elias believed her. "Mr. Shawn, there's one more thing."

Elias looked at her, saying nothing.

His presence was so cold and intimidating that Sunny felt like every breath scraped her throat on the way out.

She clenched her fists and said, "Aurelian Central actually sent two designers this time. The other one is the project's lead designer. Yesterday afternoon, she went alone to the village in Zone F to survey the area. But now the road from here to Zone F is completely blocked by landslides. I can't reach her. I'm worried she might be in danger, so I was hoping... I was hoping you could find a way to get into the village."

"Contact the rescue teams," Elias ordered Hawk coldly. "See if there's any way in."

With that, he started to walk out of the conference room.

Hawk turned to Sunny. "What's your colleague's name?"

"Victoria."

Elias's footsteps stopped abruptly. He turned back to face Sunny, his throat working as a deep, cold voice escaped his lips:

"What did you just say her name was?"
