Hearing this, Felice's expression turned ugly.
Victoria's attitude made it clear she was certain Felice wouldn't dare give the Midlake Estates project to Genevieve. First, Victoria had experience with such projects and had produced excellent results. Second, Felice didn't know Genevieve's work style. This was her first report card since becoming Director of Design; she couldn't afford to gamble.
"Victoria, you should know that many people want this project." Felice frowned, her words subtly hinting that she, as the boss, had already been generous enough to Victoria and was warning her not to push her luck.
Victoria raised an eyebrow, pretending not to understand the subtext. She replied calmly, "Thank you for thinking so highly of me, Ms. Donald. Since so many people want this project, I won't fight them for it. I have several other projects on my plate right now anyway. If I were to hastily take on Midlake Estates, I might be too swamped to handle it."
Felice was speechless.
"If there's nothing else, I'll be going."
With that, Victoria turned to leave without any hesitation. Her decisive reaction left Felice hanging, with no graceful way to back down.
Felice's expression shifted several times before she looked down at the project file. "Fine. I can agree to your terms."
Victoria's hand was on the doorknob. She paused at the sound but didn't turn around.
Felice's brow was furrowed as she walked over and held out the folder. "As long as you can successfully win the Midlake Estates project, I'll immediately request that management remove Genevieve from her current position and put you in charge of Design Team Three."
Victoria's gaze fell on the folder.
"What? Do you have more conditions?" Seeing her hesitation, a flash of impatience crossed Felice's face.
She felt she had been more than fair to Victoria, but now, at this critical moment, Victoria was not only refusing to help but was also making things difficult for her. Although Felice didn't show it, a rift had formed between them in her heart.
Victoria wasn't slow; she sensed Felice's shift in attitude. She looked up at Felice, and after a few seconds of silence, she took the folder. "You have a deal, Ms. Donald."
Pressing down on the handle, Victoria walked out of the office without looking back.
Felice stood at the door, staring at Victoria's resolute back. They had worked together day and night for over two years, and she had watched her grow, yet now she felt a strange sense of unfamiliarity.
It was as if…
She had never truly understood the full extent of Victoria's capabilities.

"Yes." Sunny didn't hide her desire for the project at all, nodding affirmatively. But then she sighed. "But with my skill level, I'm not even a tenth as good as you. Even if they gave it to me, I wouldn't be able to do it well."
Sunny was very self-aware about her design skills.
Not doing the project just meant being envious of others' success. Doing it would mean wasting half a month, not earning a cent, and getting chewed out in the end.
"Anyway, let's not talk about that. It's almost noon. A new restaurant just opened next door. Want to go there for lunch to celebrate you getting such a great project?" Sunny discreetly glanced around the office. "Seriously, if we didn't have to wait for the final bid results, I'd be shouting this from the rooftops, just to make those flip-floppers burn with envy!"
At this, Sunny ground her teeth in frustration. "You have no idea. While you were out, those gossips who are always stirring up trouble were all over Genevieve. They were being such suck-ups…"
Victoria looked at Sunny, thinking that if sheer verbal force could take someone down, Sunny would march over to those people and let them have it.
"Pfft!"
Imagining Sunny with her hands on her hips, yelling at them in the street, she couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Just then, a delivery person walked in and called out, "Delivery for Genevieve?"
