The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 265

She didn't understand what he was so angry about.

Because she was pushing him toward Genevieve?

But wasn't that what he had always wanted? For those two years, wasn't Genevieve all he could think about? Now that she was out of the picture, shouldn't he be happy about it?

Seeing the genuine confusion in her eyes, Elias clenched his jaw. "Victoria, my relationship with her isn't what you think it is."

Not what she thought? Then what was it?

Was it leaving her on the side of a mountain, forcing her to walk home in the rain right after her miscarriage, all for Genevieve?

Or was it publicly humiliating her for Genevieve's sake, telling her to jump from the seventy-seventh floor and driving The Sanger Group to the brink of collapse?

Whatever it was, she didn't care anymore.

"Well..." Victoria opened her mouth, intending to say that if that was the case, he could go wherever he wanted.

But before she could finish, Elias started coughing again. He swayed, stumbling forward, his eyes threatening to close.

Victoria's eyes widened. She shot forward and grabbed him, steadying him.

The moment her hand touched his arm, an alarming heat radiated through his shirt, burning her palm.

"Elias, you're running a fever again?" she asked, not having time to think as she raised a hand to feel his forehead.

"I'm fine." Elias caught her wrist. "I took the medicine. It'll go down later. Cough... cough..."

Victoria's jaw tightened. She looked at his pale, exhausted face. He looked like he could collapse at any second. He wouldn't even make it to the office; he'd end up in the hospital halfway there.

She was torn.

After a long moment, when she still hadn't spoken, Elias pulled his hand back, forcing himself to stand straight. "I should go."

With that, he started to walk past her.

More accurately, she didn't want to keep anything connected to Elias, including these toys.

Whatever his motives were, they were divorced. Their lives were two parallel lines that should never cross again.

"If you don't agree, you can leave," Victoria added when he didn't respond.

"Fine. I agree."

With that, Victoria said nothing more and retreated to her bedroom, afraid that if she stayed with Elias a moment longer, she'd be tempted to throw him out.

Elias closed the door, a faint smile playing on his lips. He took out his phone and messaged Hawk, telling him to have someone come and clear out the stuffed animals.

After sending the message, he saw Jonah's profile picture again.

He tapped on it, and their conversation from the middle of the night appeared on the screen.

Jonah: [There are only three ways to get back on a woman's good side. First, spend money. Buy flowers, toys, bags—whatever it takes to win her over. Second, be considerate. Make her breakfast, do chores, bring her tea. Third, play the victim. This one works every time! After all, women are soft-hearted creatures. The more pitiful you act, the more sympathy you'll get, and she'll end up feeling sorry for you.]
