The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 267

Suddenly plunged into darkness, Rose’s expression changed.

Behind her, the wind battered the windows, a relentless rattling sound.

Her heart started racing, and a sense of unease crept over her. News stories of tourists being murdered flashed through her mind, and she immediately reached for her phone to call the police.

But then she hesitated.

She couldn't call the police.

So many people were looking for her. If she reported this, her location would surely be discovered.

But the pitch-black darkness and the howling wind amplified her fear.

Her heart pounded like a drum.

Just then!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Someone was pounding on her door.

Rose’s face went white with terror, her pupils constricting. She frantically fumbled in the dark until her hand found the rolling pin in the kitchen, and she gripped it tightly.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The knocking continued. Rose crept to the door, her legs trembling uncontrollably.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Anyone in there? We're here to check the circuits!" a gruff voice called through the door.

"Probably not home. Should we just let ourselves in?" another voice suggested.

The first man hesitated for a moment, and then came the sound of keys jangling.

He was trying to unlock her door!

Rose held her breath. Just as she heard the key about to enter the lock, she cried out, "Yes! Someone's here!"

The sound at the lock stopped. The gruff, annoyed voice returned. "Why didn't you say something then!?"

Rose pressed her lips together, forcing herself to calm down. "Who… who are you?"

The gruff man knelt, clamping a large hand over her mouth. He held up the blood-stained knife. "Rose, don't blame us when you get to hell. Blame yourself for messing with the wrong people."

With that, the cold tip of the knife was raised high and then plunged deep into the woman's heart.

A gurgle escaped her lips as she coughed up a mouthful of blood. Her eyes remained open as she lost consciousness for the last time.

After a long moment, the gruff man confirmed she was dead and made a call.

"Mr. Henry, she's been taken care of."

After ending the call, the other man looked at the woman who had died with her eyes wide open. He reached out, closed them, and made a prayer gesture. "Rest in peace."
