The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 280

Grant turned his head. "Vic, come here."

Realizing it was truly her teacher, Victoria was taken aback. She walked forward. "Sir, I thought you were..."

"My student is being bullied by this bunch of brats. As her teacher, I couldn't just stand by and watch! I came back to have your back!" Grant huffed, planting his hands on his cane as his sharp gaze fell once more on the pale-faced Genevieve.

A wave of warmth washed over Victoria. She was both touched and filled with guilt—guilt that her problems had forced her elderly teacher to take a long-haul flight back to The Imperial Capital.

Beside her, Sunny had been dumbstruck from the moment she recognized Grant. Staring at him blankly, she finally tugged on Victoria's arm and whispered, "Victoria, pinch me."

Victoria raised an eyebrow and gave her a quizzical look.

Sunny urged her, "Victoria, hurry up, pinch me. As hard as you—Ow!"

Victoria gave her arm a firm twist. Sunny yelped in pain, her eyes instantly welling up with tears. "That hurts, Victoria. Did you have to do it that hard?"

"Didn't you tell me to pinch you as hard as I could?" Victoria said with a smile. "What's gotten into you?"

Sunny blinked. "I was just trying to see if I was hallucinating or hearing things."

Victoria was confused.

"That... that man is Mr. Rhodes? Did I hear him right? Is he actually your teacher?" Sunny swallowed hard. "Victoria... you know Mr. Rhodes, and you're his student!"

Victoria nodded, openly admitting it. "That's right."

Sunny's eyes widened visibly. She fought back the urge to scream, but her voice was trembling with excitement. "Victoria, do you know what this means? Mr. Rhodes is my idol! He's... he's my idol!"

"And my idol is your teacher! Can you even imagine how I feel right now? It’s like... like I just won the freaking lottery!"

"Oh my god, what am I even saying? I'm starting to ramble."

Seeing that she was about to cry, Victoria quickly handed her a tissue. "Sunny, maybe you should try to get a hold of yourself?"

Sunny met Victoria's gaze and belatedly remembered where she was.

"Right, I need to get it together. We have more important things to do!" With that, Sunny turned to glare at Genevieve.

Grant addressed Genevieve again. "Well? Have you figured out how you're going to answer to me? If not, then apologize. Keep apologizing until Victoria is willing to forgive you."

Genevieve's lips tightened into a thin line. The moment she saw Victoria, the suppressed jealousy in her heart ran rampant. She ground her teeth and declared righteously, "Mr. Rhodes, I understand that Victoria is your student and you're protecting her, but... I don't believe I've done anything wrong. When have I ever oppressed Victoria? Why should I apologize to her? Or is it that in your eyes, Mr. Rhodes, anyone you favor can ignore right and wrong, and you can use your status to force a junior to apologize?"

The reporter who had been rebuffed earlier quickly chimed in. "That's right, Mr. Rhodes! Even if Victoria is your student, that doesn't change the fact that she plagiarized her roommate's work, which led to her roommate's disability and eventual suicide!"

"You once said that the most important thing for an architect is originality. By taking a plagiarist like Victoria as your student, aren't you going against your own principles? Mr. Rhodes, don't be fooled by her act!"
