The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 29

The folder in the person's hand fell to the floor.

"I'm so sorry!" Victoria quickly bent down to pick it up. She looked up at the person in front of her and held it out.

He was wearing a white lab coat and a medical mask, revealing only a pair of deep-set eyes. It was still easy to tell he was handsome.

"It's alright," he said, taking the folder. His voice was low and magnetic.

Victoria frowned slightly. Why did his voice sound so familiar?

But the exhibition was starting soon, so she didn't dwell on it. She apologized once more and hurried into the elevator.

The man turned, watching her retreating back with a slight arch of his eyebrow, one hand in his pocket.

"Dr. Holt, there you are!" A young nurse came jogging over.

"What is it?" The man shifted his gaze to her.

"There's a medical order that needs your signature."

He took the document and pulled down his mask.

The nurse glanced at his face cautiously, a blush creeping into her eyes as shyness took over.

"Dr. Holt, were you watching the elevator? Did you see something?" the nurse asked, gathering her courage to start a conversation, her heart pounding.

The man quickly signed the order and handed it back, his demeanor as gentle as always. "Mmm, I saw someone I know."

Hearing that, the nurse eagerly continued the topic. "Someone you know? I thought you'd been abroad all this time and didn't have many friends here!"

He smiled, a hint of distance in his eyes. After another glance at the closed elevator doors, he didn't continue the conversation and simply turned and walked away.

Aurelian Central, as one of the top ten design institutes in the country, held a biannual exhibition to showcase its recent projects.

On the day of the event, up-and-coming architects from both home and abroad would be in attendance.

"Is Genevieve coming this time?"

As far as she could remember, she and Rose had barely interacted, let alone had any reason to be enemies.

But it didn't take long for Victoria to figure out the source of Rose's hostility.

On the surface, Team Two and Team Three were cordial, but underneath, they were fierce competitors.

A major contract Victoria had recently secured was originally assigned to Team Two. After their designs were repeatedly rejected, management had passed the project to Team Three.

It was a hot potato. If Team Three had also failed, Team Two would have been thrilled. But they hadn't. Team Three succeeded where Team Two had failed.

It was a slap in the face to everyone on Team Two. Rose, being outspoken, already disliked Victoria, and now this public humiliation had only fueled her resentment.

But to blame others for their own inability to land a project was laughable.

Victoria had no desire to get into it with Rose. She started to walk past her to pick up the scattered papers.

Rose, annoyed at being ignored, blocked her way. "What's this, Designer Sanger? Can't even spare a glance for a coworker now?"
