The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 298

Q: [?]

Victoria: [I’m pregnant. I think the baby I lost a while ago has come back to me…]

Victoria typed the sentence into the chat box, but just as she was about to send it, a thought made her stop.

She hadn’t told anyone about her pregnancy yet.

At first, she thought it wouldn’t matter if she told this person, since they had never met. But then she remembered that her neighbor was a grieving mother.

For her, pregnancy and a second chance were a joy, but for a mother who had lost her child, it would be a painful blow.

After some thought, Victoria deleted the text and shifted the topic back to her neighbor.

[What about you? You asked me that all of a sudden. Did something happen? Are you feeling down?]

Q: [You could say that.]

Victoria: [If you don’t have anyone to talk to, maybe you could tell me about it?]

After she sent the message, nearly fifteen minutes passed with no reply.

Victoria stared at the screen, wondering if her question had been too direct, too intrusive. Maybe the other person didn't want to talk about it. She was about to send another message to say it was okay not to answer.

Suddenly, a reply came through.

Q: [Have you ever been in love?]

Q: [Hypothetically, let’s say the person you love knows someone hurt you and the people you care about. When you finally find evidence to make that person pay, he chooses to help them escape justice. He says he’ll do everything in his power to compensate you. Would you still forgive him?]

Victoria froze, her eyes fixed on the two messages. Her fingertips tightened on her phone as the words she had spoken to Elias after the awards ceremony echoed in her mind.

‘Elias, if you want to protect Genevieve, go right ahead. I can’t stop you. But for every time you protect her, I’ll find a way to put her back in jail, until she pays for murder with her life.’

For some reason, as she read those two messages, she felt an uncanny sense that they were talking about her and Elias.

Her phone vibrated again.

Q: [Are you still there?]

Victoria collected herself, her fingers tapping lightly as she sent three consecutive replies.

[I’m here.]

[I wouldn’t forgive him.]

[The moment he chose to stand against me, we were finished. I need a partner who will stand with me, no matter what.]

Across town, Elias sat on the sofa, taking in the three messages Victoria had sent.

Without waiting for Genevieve to say another word, he strode out of the room.

The door clicked shut.

Genevieve watched as the man’s back disappeared from view.

“Ah!”

The unrestrained hatred in her heart finally erupted. Her chest heaved, her expression contorted into a terrifying mask of fury as she snatched a pillow from the bed and hurled it violently at the door.

“VICTORIA SANGER!”

She ground her teeth, almost shattering the name between them.

Just then, the door to the room was pushed open again. A man wearing a mask, a hat, and a white coat entered, pushing a small cart.

“Who are you?” Genevieve demanded, instantly on alert.

But the man just glanced at her, then wordlessly picked up a syringe and moved to inject its contents into her IV bag.

“Help—!” Genevieve’s eyes widened in terror. She ripped the needle from the back of her hand and tried to run.

However, the man was incredibly strong. He gave her no chance to escape, grabbing her injured wrist and throwing her back onto the bed. His large hand clamped down hard over her mouth, and the eyes visible above his mask were filled with ruthless cruelty.
