Henry squinted at her, as if trying to gauge if she was telling the truth.

Genevieve Vale struggled to pull at the hand clamped around her neck. Knowing what he was hesitating about, she said, “I really have it… I… I remembered Elias Shawn promised me that if I just asked, he would give me three percent of The Shawn Group’s shares.”

Three percent of The Shawn Group’s shares!

That was worth far more than ten million dollars.

As expected, Henry’s expression changed instantly upon hearing this, and his grip slackened slightly. “Are you serious? What proof do you have?”

Genevieve seized the opportunity to break free from his grasp. She clutched her neck, taking a long moment for the tightness in her throat to ease. Looking up at him, she held out the bracelet on her wrist and said weakly, “This is the proof.”

Henry violently ripped the bracelet from her wrist. After examining it, his face darkened again. “Genevieve, are you fucking with me?”

Genevieve hurriedly explained, “I’m not! Everything I said is true!”

“True my ass! You think this piece of junk is worth three percent of The Shawn Group’s stock? Who are you trying to kid?!” Henry’s embarrassment turned to rage, feeling he’d been tricked by this woman yet again.

“This bracelet is the proof that I saved him!” Genevieve said urgently.

Henry’s eyes narrowed.

Seeing this, Genevieve quickly snatched the bracelet back and explained, “You knew I saved Elias’s life, right? This is the bracelet I was wearing when I saved him. He promised that as long as I use this bracelet to make a request, he’ll grant it, and he’ll give me an additional three percent of The Shawn Group’s stock as a reward.”

Henry was still skeptical. “If you had something like this, why didn’t you use it sooner?”

“If I used it, all I’d get is some stock and money. If I don’t, Elias will always owe me his life,” Genevieve said, clenching the bracelet, a dark glint in her eyes. As long as Elias was indebted to her, she would one day become Mrs. Shawn.

At that point, what was a mere three percent of The Shawn Group? The entire company would be hers!

She was going to be Mrs. Shawn. She had to be!

As for Henry…

From the moment Henry had first approached her for money, Genevieve knew he was a poisonous snake. Getting entangled with him could only end one of two ways—either she died, or he did.

Before, this snake still had his uses, which was why she had held off and played along.

But now, with the investigation into Grady Sanger’s case reopened, there was no guarantee it wouldn’t lead back to Henry.

And Elias was looking for Henry everywhere. If Elias ever discovered she was still in contact with him, all her efforts would be for nothing! Elias was already cold toward her; she couldn't let things get any worse!
