Genevieve had just learned that Garnett’s surgery was a success. She was pacing back and forth in the hospital room, her brow furrowed.
She couldn’t believe Garnett was so resilient. He hadn’t died, even after all that. Didn’t he have a heart condition?
This wouldn't do. She couldn't let Garnett wake up.
Genevieve bit her index finger, her mind racing.
Suddenly—
Bang!
The door to the hospital room was kicked open. Startled, Genevieve stormed out from the inner room, her face flushed with anger. “Who—”
Smack!
Before she could react, a sharp slap landed across her face. The sound was crisp, the force considerable.
Enraged, she raised her hand to strike back without even seeing who it was.
But before her hand was halfway up, another slap came down without hesitation.
Smack! Smack! Smack!
Three more slaps, even louder than the first, rained down on her. Genevieve was powerless to fight back. Her ears rang as she staggered back two steps, nearly falling to the ground.
Before she could regain her footing, a cold, furious voice demanded, “Genevieve, what exactly did you say to my father?!”
Genevieve recognized Victoria’s voice and jerked her head up.
Victoria’s face was like ice, her cold eyes burning with fury. A menacing aura radiated from her, unsettling to behold.
Genevieve was momentarily stunned, but she quickly composed herself. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a nurse notice the commotion and hurry off to find help. A sinister glint appeared in her eyes as a plan formed.
“Your father?” Genevieve forced a smile, ignoring the stinging pain in her cheeks as she deliberately provoked Victoria. “Oh, you mean Mr. Sanger? What’s wrong? Didn’t he make it through the surgery?”
“You look so angry, I was starting to think Mr. Sanger didn't survive.”
“But then again, your father’s constitution is so fragile. All I did was tell him a few secrets. Like how I stole your credit for saving Elias five years ago. And how I orchestrated the Sanger Group accident two years ago to get him thrown in prison…”
Genevieve sneered. “Oh, right. And how Grady died.”
“Genevieve!”
The top of the stand struck Victoria’s wrist, forcing her to release her grip.
The IV bag and stand hit the floor together. A shard of shattered plastic flew up, grazing Victoria’s neck.
Instantly, a thin, red line appeared on her pale skin, a bright, startling trickle of blood seeping out.
Genevieve seized the opportunity to break free. She stumbled to the bed and pressed the call button. Turning back to look at the murderous rage in Victoria's eyes, a wicked light danced in her own as a cruel, wild smile spread across her face.
She pushed herself up and charged.
“If you want to die so badly, Victoria, then go to hell!”
The next moment, there was a glint of cold steel.
Somehow, Genevieve now held a small knife, and she was thrusting it straight at Victoria.
Victoria’s pupils contracted. She instinctively twisted to dodge, trying to grab Genevieve’s wrist.
But at that moment, Genevieve suddenly changed the angle of the blade, grabbed Victoria’s hand, and plunged the knife into her own chest.
“Victoria!”
