The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 406

Henry's gaze turned cold. "Victoria, that damn bitch Genevieve was right. You really are annoying."

Hearing this, Victoria inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. If Henry was saying that, it meant her gamble had worked.

She took a tentative step forward and continued, "Henry, let my father go. I'll be your live bait."

Henry grabbed Garnett by the hair and yanked his head up. Blood, mixed with dirt, was gushing from his forehead.

Henry tilted his head, as if seriously considering her proposal.

After a long moment, just as Victoria thought he was about to waver, Henry suddenly broke into a chilling smile. The edge of his knife traced over his captive's knuckles, as if measuring where to cut to inflict the most pain.

"No, that won't do."

"What if I let him go and you refuse to cooperate?"

The dagger flashed a cold, white arc in his hand. Victoria's pupils contracted, and she instinctively wanted to rush forward.

But in the next second, Henry suddenly whipped his head around to stare at her.

"Don't! Henry…"

Victoria froze mid-step, her throat tightening. "I'll cooperate. Whatever you ask, I'll do it. Just let my father go."

"Is that so?"

Victoria's eyes were fixed on the dagger in Henry's hand. She nodded. "Yes."

"Good." Henry put away the dagger, his taunting gaze fixed on Victoria's face. "Then I want you to throw your knife away and crawl over here on your knees."

Victoria's heart sank.

But time was short, leaving her no room to think. Victoria loosened her grip on the switchblade.

A sharp clang of metal hitting the ground shattered the dead silence.

"Oops, I couldn't help myself. But you can't blame me."

Henry's smile was bloodthirsty, completely ignoring Victoria's outrage. "If you have to blame someone, blame this old bastard for talking too much. He was hurting my ears. I had no choice, I just wanted him to be quiet."

"Henry, if you hurt him again…" Victoria's knuckles turned white. She swallowed the metallic taste rising in her throat, her voice as sharp as ice. "I will kill you!"

Henry tossed the dagger in his palm, his posture casual. "Then you'd better crawl faster. Otherwise, I don't know how long my patience will last."

Victoria clenched her jaw and crawled on her knees toward Henry. Beads of sweat fell to the ground, kicking up thick dust.

Fifty feet, thirty feet, twenty-five feet…

Soon, only a few steps remained.

Henry watched Victoria leisurely, his Adam's apple bobbing. The madness in his eyes was now tinged with lust.

Victoria had rushed out of the house as soon as she got the call from Mr. Flint, only managing to grab a trench coat. She hadn't even changed out of her nightgown.
