"Heh, Elias, you're not so great after all. You're a complete idiot! You've been cuckolded so badly it's a wonder your head isn't glowing, and you're still protecting that bitch! You tried to hunt me down and destroy me for a worthless slut!"
"The one who really deserves to die is you!"
After saying his piece, Henry turned to Victoria and sneered, "And you. You don't actually think Elias rushed here to save you because he's deeply in love with you, do you? I'm telling you, he's a hypocrite!"
"Do you know why the police dropped the investigation into Genevieve?"
"Because of him!" Henry pointed an agitated finger at Elias, spitting out each word through gritted teeth. "He's the one who got Genevieve a lawyer, had her undergo a psychiatric evaluation, and pointed all the blame at me! He covered for her, created a diversion, and pressured the police!"
"If it weren't for that, do you think I'd be cornered like this?! Victoria, you can't blame me for your dad's death. You should blame Elias! He's the one you should hate! He's the one who backed me into a corner! If it wasn't for him, your dad wouldn't have died!"
A violent tremor ran through Victoria.
'Did you tell the police to drop the investigation into Genevieve?'
'…No.'
Elias's firm denial from before was like an arrow piercing Victoria's heart, the pain so sharp she could barely breathe.
"You don't believe me?" Seeing her silence, Henry pressed on, fanning the flames. "Ask him! Ask him if he gave his legal team to Genevieve! Ask him if he gave the police tips to make me the prime suspect! Ask him if he arranged the psychiatric evaluation!"
Victoria's bloodless lips were pressed into a thin line. Her gaze shifted to Elias, her nails digging deep into her palms.
"Victoria, there's a misunderstanding. Let me explain…" Elias's Adam's apple bobbed. He opened his mouth, wanting to explain.
Victoria cut him off, her voice dry and hoarse. "So, everything he said is true."
Elias froze. Looking at her reddened, wounded eyes, he felt as if his throat were stuffed with cotton, unable to utter a single sound.
He wanted Elias to watch how he took his woman! Everything he had suffered, he would make Elias pay back double!
Elias's eyes were practically splitting with rage. "Henry! Let her go!"
"Let her go? Fine. Shoot yourself in the knees, twice, and I'll let go." Henry hooked a finger under the strap of Victoria's nightgown, letting it hang precariously. His eyes were filled with malicious amusement. "How about it? Sounds like a fair trade, doesn't it?"
Bang! Bang!
Almost as soon as Henry finished speaking, two gunshots rang out without a moment's hesitation.
Victoria's pupils contracted as she watched Elias cleanly and decisively shoot himself twice, then collapse heavily to his knees.
Sticky, crimson blood instantly soaked through his pants, pooling on the floor…
