The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 415

But the reality was, whenever it concerned five years ago, whenever it involved Genevieve, he would always stand against her.

How ironic.

Even more laughable was that, for a fleeting moment, she had actually dared to think he might believe her.

Victoria let out a cold laugh. "You don't have to say anything. I have my answer."

Watching the mocking smile on her lips, Elias felt a sharp dagger twist in his chest. The panic of losing her washed over him again like a tidal wave.

He swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing. He wanted to explain, but though his lips opened and closed, he couldn't find the right words.

After a long moment, he finally said in a low voice, "Victoria, Hawk has already sent people to check the security footage. We'll have results soon. Just calm down."

"Calm down again!"

Victoria reacted as if she'd heard the world's biggest joke. She pointed a trembling finger at Genevieve, cowering on the floor, her voice laced with anguish. "At the funeral, when I said Genevieve killed Grady Sanger, you told me to calm down. Now, my father is in the ICU, and besides her, there's no one else who would want him dead!"

"I know she's the one who took my father, that she wants him dead, and you're still telling me to calm down?"

"Elias, you tell me, how am I supposed to calm down?"

Victoria's eyes were red, each word seeming to be torn from the depths of her soul, filled with endless pain and grief. As she finished, she could no longer hold back her tears, and they streamed down her face.

Elias froze, instinctively raising a hand to wipe her tears away, but Victoria turned her head to avoid his touch. She wiped them away herself, then tightened her grip on the knife's handle. Through clenched teeth, she said, word by word, "Elias, if anything happens to my father, I don't care who tries to stop me. I will kill Genevieve and make her pay with her life!"

With that, Victoria's gaze snapped back to Genevieve.

Genevieve trembled, shaking her head and crying to Elias, "It wasn't me, Elias, you have to believe me! It wasn't me! I didn't take Garnett Sanger! I've been in the hospital this whole time! I couldn't have taken him! Elias..."

Victoria's wrist was still in Elias's grip. She struggled twice, trying to suppress the inferno of her rage as she spat, "Let go!"

Elias paused for a moment, but instead of letting go, he tightened his grip. He tried to keep his tone gentle. "Victoria, I can vouch for Genevieve. She really has been in the hospital without leaving. A nurse has been watching her room all night."

"She can't be the one who took your father."

Victoria looked at him, the irony thick enough to taste.

Elias's eyes instantly turned as dark as ink. He barked, "Get a team ready immediately! We're leaving now!"

At the same time, Victoria's phone buzzed with two anonymous texts. The first was an address—the same abandoned chemical plant Hawk had just mentioned.

The second message was concise and to the point: [If you want to save your father, come alone. Don't try any tricks, or you'll be seeing his corpse.]

Victoria's face went white. She immediately turned and rushed out of the room.

Elias grabbed her arm. "Victoria, calm down. We'll go together."

Victoria shook his hand off, her voice cold and filled with disappointment. "I don't need your help. I can save my father myself."

With that, she left without a backward glance.

Elias's brows furrowed. He was about to chase after her when Genevieve, who had been collapsed on the floor, suddenly stood up and grabbed his arm. "Elias, don't go, I..."

But before she could finish her sentence, her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed into Elias's arms.
