Outside the hospital, Jonah leaned against the car, looking thoroughly bored.
"Hawk, stop staring. Your boss isn't coming down anytime soon. Come on, I'll take you out to unwind." Jonah yawned, then turned to open the rear passenger door.
Just as he was about to get in, Hawk's voice cut through the air. "Mr. Shawn."
Jonah spun around, his eyes widening slightly.
There he was—Elias who had rushed back overnight from H City, still in the same clothes, walking out of the hospital with a face as cold as stone.
At the sound of Hawk's voice, Elias shot a cold glance in their direction and headed straight for the car.
Jonah, who had been completely ignored, looked at Hawk with a questioning gaze: "Did they have a fight? Or did your boss's wife kick him out?"
Hawk remained impassive. "You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?"
"Are you two going to stand there all day?"
Elias's sudden, icy voice cut their silent exchange short.
Jonah rubbed his nose sheepishly and gestured for Hawk to get in the car first.
Hawk averted his eyes and made a polite gesture. "After you, Mr. Chase."
His voice was just loud enough for all three of them to hear.
Jonah ground his back teeth. "Nice one, kid. I'll remember this." He shot Hawk a sideways glare before sliding into the back seat.
"Mr. Shawn, the surveillance footage from Harry's place has arrived." As soon as he got in, Hawk turned on his tablet and looked back at Elias, asking hesitantly, "Do you... want to see it?"
Before Elias could answer, Jonah snatched the tablet. "Let me see."
The video had been sped up, compressing over three hours into just five minutes. The final frame was frozen on the moment Harry grabbed Victoria, leaning in to kiss her, only to be stabbed in the shoulder.
"Wow, Victoria looks so gentle, but she's got guts! Her move was clean and decisive! Tsk, I never realized she had such a fierce side!"
After his exclamation, Jonah felt a sudden chill run down his spine. He immediately changed his tune, his voice filled with indignation. "It just goes to show, you can't judge a book by its cover. She acts all soft and innocent, but underneath she's deceitful and calculating!"
Elias glanced at him. "Hawk, back to the office."
At the same time, Jonah felt the terrifying chill lift.
"Phew. Good thing I'm quick on my feet." Jonah patted his chest, calming his startled heart.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed with a new message.
Jonah opened it, his expression darkening. "I'm afraid we can't go back to the office just yet," he said, handing the phone to Elias. A meaningful smile played on his lips. "You know, it's funny you two are married. You even share the same enemies."
Hawk looked surprised. "Mr. Chase, are you saying Harry was the one who provided the fake identities for that mother and daughter?"
Just as they moved closer, looking for something to use as a gag, the nurse sank another stitch. Harry grabbed one of the men's arms and bit down hard.
"Aaargh!"
The man who was bitten cried out in pain, tears streaming down his face.
"Alright, it's done. Try not to make any large movements. If you need anything, just press the call button." After tying off the last stitch, the nurse gave her instructions and left the room.
"Boss... are you okay?" the blondie who had held him down asked cautiously.
"Am I okay? Why don't you get stabbed and see how you feel! And you," he roared, kicking both of them, "why the hell were you holding me down so hard! And you, I just bit you! What the hell were you screaming about!"
Harry was in agony and furious. "That damn bitch! I'll never let her get away with this!"
Just then, the door to the room was pushed open.
Four men in black suits stormed in and, without a word, restrained the two blondies.
"Who... who are you!" Harry's face turned pale, and he immediately tried to run.
One of the men blocked his path, his tone leaving no room for argument.
"Harry, you're coming with us."
