The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 66

"Three... two..." Elias counted down, his face a mask of cold indifference, his eyes glinting with malice.

"One!"

"Elias, I'm here to make a deal!"

They spoke at the same time.

Elias's hand shot out, clamping around her wrist. He dragged her to the edge of the open window, his voice a scornful whisper in her ear. "A deal? Victoria, what makes you think I would ever make a deal with a liar like you?"

With that, he pushed her another half-step closer to the edge.

"Elias, no!"

"I gave you a chance, Victoria!"

Without another word, he grabbed a safety rope, wrapped it twice around her waist, and tied it securely. Then, his long, elegant fingers tilted her bloodless face up to his. His dark eyes were filled with a chilling, dangerous light.

The wind roared behind her. A glance down at the dizzying drop made Victoria's pupils dilate in terror. "Elias..."

Before she could finish, a powerful force shoved her outward.

Victoria felt her body plummet. Her mind went blank. She didn't even have time to grab onto anything. The wind howled in her ears, ruthlessly stealing the air from her lungs.

"Victoria, you disgust me!"

"Victoria, you deserve to die!"

"Victoria, I will never believe a single word you say!"

Elias's words, carried on the wind, swirled in her mind.

Her eyes burned red. She looked up at his figure, which was growing smaller and more blurred. Her heart felt as if it had been crushed, bleeding thick, crimson drops. She suddenly let out a laugh—a heart-wrenching, soul-shattering laugh.

She closed her eyes. Tears streamed from the corners, stolen by the wind.

For a fleeting moment, she thought, "Maybe it's better this way. If I die, will I get a second chance? If I do, I will never love Elias again."

Suddenly, the rope around her waist went taut.

It was Lucian who pulled her back up.

Her face was so pale it was almost translucent, which made the redness in her eyes stand out all the more, giving her a pitiful look.

Lucian helped her to the sofa, his expression grim. If Cerys hadn't been worried and insisted he come up to check, who knew how long Victoria would have been left dangling there.

"Victoria, are you... okay?" Lucian asked, his voice filled with sympathy.

The office door clicked shut.

Victoria pressed her lips together, taking a moment to compose herself. Elias walked over and stood before her, his voice as flat and cold as ice, laced with scorn.

"Victoria, I really underestimated you. You even dare to manipulate the people closest to me."

"I didn't." Victoria's fingers tightened, her knuckles turning white. "I admit I lied to you when I came in, but Elias, believe it or not, I have never told you a single lie besides that."

He gripped her chin again. "Not a single lie?"

Victoria met his gaze directly. Her eyelashes fluttered, but she didn't back down.

Elias looked into her eyes, and for a split second, his heart faltered. A flicker of doubt crossed his mind. "Could it be that everything she said before was true?"

But he quickly dismissed the thought. How could he forget? She was a pathological liar. She claimed to love him while shamelessly flirting with others behind his back. Jonah was right. From the very beginning, her entire purpose in approaching him, in marrying him, was driven by ulterior motives.

"You don't need to look at me like that." Elias released her and sat down opposite her, crossing his long legs. He gave her a disdainful look. "You came to me because you want my help with Garnett, don't you?"

"Yes," Victoria said, biting her lip. "If you're willing to help my father get medical parole... I'll agree to any condition you set."

Elias scoffed. "Any condition? Victoria, you're far too arrogant. What qualifications or assets do you possibly have that would be worthy of a deal with me?"

"What if I'm willing to divorce you right now?"
