The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 79

Blood quickly spread from beneath Genevieve, staining her dress crimson.

The sight of the pool of blood seared Victoria's eyes. Memories she had deliberately sealed away surged forth like a tidal wave, forming a giant hand that clamped tightly around her throat, suffocating her, leaving her unable to breathe, let alone speak.

"Ah! Someone's been killed!"

Someone screamed, and the crowd from the main hall rushed over.

In the chaos, Victoria finally realized this was all Genevieve's setup. Her face went pale, her eyes filled with disbelief.

It wasn't that she was shocked Genevieve had framed her; it was that she couldn't believe Genevieve would go so far as to sacrifice her own unborn child just to incriminate her!

Suddenly, a tall, slender figure burst into view. He scooped Genevieve into his arms. Her face was as white as a sheet, a stark, horrifying contrast to the scarlet on the floor.

"E... Elias... my... my baby..."

"Gen, don't be scared. Trust me, you'll be okay!"

Elias's gaze swept over the shocking bloodstain. Without hesitation, he lifted Genevieve and strode toward the exit.

In the moment he turned, Victoria clearly felt his eyes flick toward her.

His gaze was like an icicle, piercing and cold, threatening to freeze the very blood in her veins.

"Elias, it wasn't..." Victoria instinctively opened her mouth to explain, but before the word "me" could escape her lips, Elias had already moved on, not stopping, not looking back. He threw a single, merciless sentence over his shoulder:

"Victoria, if anything happens to Gen's baby, I won't let you get away with this!"

The color drained from Victoria's face. All the strength seemed to leave her body in an instant. A dense, sharp pain spread through her chest, so intense she couldn't breathe.

Her eyes reddened, a film of moisture gathering in them.

"Elias... Why can't you just believe me once? Just this once."

Victoria closed her eyes, trying to force down the metallic taste of blood rising in her throat.

Laurel rushed over. Seeing Elias's departing figure and the blood on the floor, she nearly fainted. She looked up and saw Victoria on the landing above, then charged up the stairs.

Two long hours of surgery finally came to an end.

The doctor removed his mask, his face etched with regret. "Mr. Shawn, I'm very sorry. We did everything we could, but Miss Vale lost too much blood. The fetus... we couldn't save it."

Hawk arrived to find Elias sitting on a bench in the waiting area. His clothes were still stained with Genevieve's blood, making him look both disheveled and terrifying.

His hands were clamped over his face, and he radiated an aura that warned everyone to stay away.

Looking at the darkened light above the operating room door, Hawk could guess the outcome.

So much blood... and a fall from the second story. It was a situation that even a healthy person would struggle to survive, let alone a woman three months pregnant.

"Mr. Shawn, I've taken care of everyone who was at the manor today. Not a word of what happened tonight will get out. Also, Miss Sanger has been locked in the attic by Lady Laurel. No one is allowed in or out." Hawk hesitated slightly before continuing:

"Lady Laurel also asked me to tell you that if anything happened to Miss Vale's child—"

"Victoria must go to jail!"
