Iris was startled when Alan dragged her away from Redmond’s side all of a sudden and told his men to surround the alpha, Will and Redmond, so they couldn’t do anything to help her.
No matter how much she tried struggling to get away from his grip, she couldn’t free herself, instead, his grip became only tighter and she felt like he was going to crush her bones.
This despicable man!
Right at that time, Iris remembered the little lizard and opened her pouch a little bit, just enough for its little head to poke out of the pouch around her waist and shoot fire at his hand. She didn’t know how, but somehow, she knew that she could make this little creature do what she wanted it to do.
It came so naturally to her, just like breathing.
"AH! What was that?!" Alan immediately let go of her hand, but when he raised his hand to take a look at the ’assaulted’ part, the burning was already healed.
Actually, that kind of fire wouldn’t harm him, but Alan didn’t expect to feel the burning sensation, thus he became hysterical. He had a tendency to be a little bit dramatic from how Iris saw it.
Thankfully, because all of their attention was on Cane and the others, no one saw how Iris’ little lizard had taken care of her offender.
Once he freed her hand, Iris immediately rushed toward Redmond and stood behind him, while Alan was still wailing like a little boy.
"What have you done? What was that?!" He looked angry because he lost his grip on Iris. Lou refused to give him the Asturi stem, no matter how much he offered to pay. He wanted that girl. Why would he want that deaf girl?
"What happened, My Prince?" Corry immediately went to his side. He was confused, but he couldn’t see any injuries.
"She burned me!" Alan pointed an accusatory finger at Iris, as he wailed agitatedly. He must have never been hurt before to fuss so much over such a little move.
"I didn’t do anything," Iris said, she opened both of her palms to show him that she wasn’t holding anything that could burn him. Her big, blue eyes looked at him innocently.
That was right, it was not her who had done it, it was her little lizard, so she didn’t lie.
Alan and Corry didn’t have any idea how she could burn him, but of course, the three men around Iris knew what was going on. They sneered in their hearts.
Outside, there were three horses that had been waiting for them, but this time, Cane helped Iris onto his own horse, instead of letting her go with Redmond as usual.
"I can go with Redmond." Iris was trying to remind him, but Cane said nothing, as he mounted the horse and overwhelmed her with his masculine scent. He looked so calm, despite being so aggressive a moment ago. "I will go with..."
"Quiet."
That was only a single word, but it managed to mum her. This was the second time for her to ride the horse with him. His strong arms caged her body, making her feel safe, but she was so tense.
Iris could be casual when she was with Redmond, she could lean her body forward and rest against his back, since she was sitting behind him, but right now, Cane made her sit on the front and the only option for her was to lean her back against his chest. Would he allow it?
All the way from the inn to the exit gates of the black market, Iris tried to keep her body straight, but she was not sure that she could keep the same up for a half day more journey.
Yet, as if sensing how tense her body was, it was Cane who pushed her body against his chest, as if telling her that she could lean against him.
