"Cane." Ethan pulled Cane aside, as he spoke in a low voice, so it was only the alpha who could hear him. "It is the new moon in two days."
Their original plan was; in two days, they would have headed back to the Howling Wolf pack and would be in the mountains. At that time, Cane could be with Iris, while Ethan would make an excuse to send Redmond and Will away.
Right, even Will didn’t know about Cane’s predicament.
He had seen it before how the lycan was calm enough with Iris close to him, based on that knowledge, it was safe to say the lycan wouldn’t run rampant with her there and they could go through the night and keep the secret safe.
However, it would be too risky if they let him shift in the middle of this populace, with so many people around.
They would immediately know about the lycan if there was a mishap. It was too risky to stay behind.
Ultimately, Cane didn’t need Ethan’s reminder to remember all of that, he was highly aware, after all, that was the reason he brought Iris along to begin with.
They had spent a lot of time in the black market, more than they predicted.
"What are you going to do about this then?" Ethan looked at Cane, but before the latter could answer him, Will came into the room.
At this time, Redmond was walking the healer out and after that, he would go buy the medicine for Iris.
"Alpha, this is not good," Will said, he looked flustered and his face indicated that whatever he was going to say would be anything but good for them. "Alpha Gallot is downstairs with the Crown Prince, he knows we are here."
"That damned prince! I really want to cut his tongue, so he will not be able to blabber anymore!" Ethan was seething. Who else would tattle to Alpha Gallot if it were not him?!
It would have been fine even if Alpha Gallot knew they had been there after they left his pack, but right now, they couldn’t even leave with Iris being sick.
"Why didn’t you kill him in the black market?! It will save us a lot of time and trouble!" Ethan couldn’t stop cursing, while Will waited for Cane’s orders.
Despite the situation not being in their favor, Cane still looked unperturbed, he was calm enough to tell them to stay with Iris in this room.
"Are you going to meet him?" Ethan was puzzled.
It took Cane great pains to get his disapproval against the king’s order for the matters in the Blue Moon pack. If he could, he would stay away from him. He was not easy to deal with.
"Why are you so formal with me?!" Gallot wrapped his arm around Cane’s shoulders. "I have prepared a welcome party for the crown prince, you also need to come! I heard you have brought your mate along? Gerald’s daughter? You really know how to choose a woman."
Gallot didn’t mean to mock him for choosing his enemy’s daughter, but he was implying the Blue Moon pack, after all the king agreed to leave that pack in Cane’s hands because Iris was his mate.
"Where is she? I have never seen her, even when I went to the Blue Moon pack, that Gerald had never brought her out." He looked around, as if Iris would appear out of thin air.
"She is sick," Cane said simply. "We will stay in the inn and leave after she feels better."
The arm that wrapped around his shoulder tightened when Gallot spoke again, though his voice was still as boisterous as earlier, he seemed impatient now. "I insist that you come with me. How can I leave a new alpha in this inn?" There was a tinge of warning in his voice this time. "You will not let me down for the second time, right? I feel like I am begging you now. I have ordered a three night and three day party because the two of you are here!"
Party.
Most of the shifters loved partying, but Cane was sick of it.
