The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 253

Chapter 253: THE SCARY ALPHA

Cane didn’t really intend to let Iris walk alone in the middle of the night, especially after the second attack of the monster. His conscience wouldn’t allow him to do that, but he was not going to reveal himself, as he followed her in his wolf form.

He watched how frustrated she was and heard every murmur that left her lips, also how she called him annoying.

Probably, if it was not for Lou, Iris would have never known that Cane was actually keeping an eye on her from the shadows.

However, the merchant knew no boundaries, as he grabbed Iris’ hand and forced her to stay when she was about to leave and before Cane’s mind was able to decide what he was going to do, his body moved first.

Cane let out a dangerous growl, as he emerged from the dark, his golden eyes shone brightly and a glimpse of him was enough to send his message crystal clear. The beast was ready to attack if he didn’t back away.

Therefore, out of instinct, Lou let go of Iris’ hand and backed away. After all, he didn’t have enough energy to perform any magic right now, let alone fight an alpha beast.

Cane prowled forward, his golden eyes fixed on the merchant, as he emanated a killing intent that was so strong, which made Iris turn around and find Cane in his wolf form.

She couldn’t believe her own eyes that he actually came after her. Or was this a coincidence? Did he want to go somewhere? Iris couldn’t help but question her own judgment whenever Cane did something out of the ordinary.

"Alpha Cane," Lou greeted Cane, as he bent his body in an exaggerated way.

Cane shifted into his human form, as he pulled Iris to his side. Not even once did he spare her a glance, as his angry dark eyes were fixed on the merchant. His grip on Iris’ hips tightened and this made her grimace slightly. It was so obvious that the Alpha was not happy with this situation.

"It’s a coincidence that we met here," Lou said cheekily. It was fate when he met with Iris, but it was a coincidence when it was Cane that he met. "May I know why you are here in the middle of the night?"

Even though Lou appeared so carefree, he was very cautious to provoke this alpha, he had a very strong domineering aura and his killing intent could make one shiver in fear.

Cane didn’t answer that, nor did he give any response, aside from staring daggers at Lou, which made him feel awry for receiving such an intense gaze, but then the Alpha shifted his attention toward Iris when he realized her grimacing in pain. He released his grip on her waist, but he took her hand and walked away from there without saying anything to Lou.

Yet, the merchant was simply looking for trouble as he shouted at him, since he didn’t want to be left high and dry.

"Alpha, it seems the Luna is fine now. Tomorrow, you will bring her too, right?" Lou asked in high spirits, hiding his displeasure because Cane was taking away Iris before he could get an answer from her.

Cane stopped and turned his head to look at him. "She is sick." That was the only answer that he gave him. He insisted on that excuse. If he said Iris was sick, then she was sick. No questions asked.

Cane slammed the door harshly when they were already inside their chamber, but he didn’t stop, as he tugged her toward the bathroom and rinsed her hand under the running water. It was the same hand that Lou had grabbed earlier.

Iris was stunned by what Cane was doing, she looked at him in bewilderment, as he spoke viciously.

"You smell like him." The words sounded very vicious, laced with disdain, which made Iris flinch and lower her head again. She fought back the urge to cry.

Not only because Cane rubbed her hand a little bit harshly, but also because she was afraid, confused and was at a loss. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Once Cane was done, he brought her hand to his nose, smelled it and was only satisfied when Lou’s scent no longer lingered on her wrist.

He stretched out his hand and put his finger under her chin to lift her head up, so she could read what he was going to say.

"I have told you not to meet him and talk to him!" Cane literally growled at her.

"I didn’t... I didn’t intend to meet him..." Iris stumbled with her words when she tried to explain the situation, which Cane knew since he was there too.
