The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 289

Chapter 289: WHAT VEMION HAD DONE

"If you are looking for the Alpha, he is not here, he is with Prince Kellan. I thought you knew about it. Didn’t he tell you? Also, why are you not with him?" Ethan looked at Iris closely, there was still a tinge of red on her cheeks, because he caught her lie.

On the other hand, Iris fidgeted because she didn’t know what to say. She was not sure why she came here to find Ethan. "I know," she replied in a small voice.

"You know?" Ethan blinked his eyes and then pulled her to sit down on the bench nearby under a maple tree. "So, why are you here? Are you looking for Redmond?" Ethan clicked his tongue. "I am sure, he is dipping his dick inside a poor palace maid."

Iris was shocked when she read what he said. The words were too vulgar and Ethan realized almost immediately when he saw the horror in her eyes.

"Oops, sorry. Squabbling with him very often leaves me a little bit dumb at times." Ethan didn’t forget to blame it on Redmond. He would trash talk about him all day long if there was someone who would listen to his ramblings. He had a lot of grievances against Redmond after all.

"I came looking for you," Iris immediately said before the situation became even more awkward. She clutched her dress nervously.

"Came looking for me? Why?" Ethan couldn’t remember if they had some unfinished business, or there was a reason for her to come find him. "Why are you looking for me?"

Iris was a little bit hesitant when she spoke again, but she was already here. "Why did the Alpha kill Prince Vemion? What had he done?" Iris’ voice was so small, because she was afraid that someone else would listen to this conversation, although they were in an open area and no one was nearby.

If Ethan was not a shifter with an exceptional hearing ability, he wouldn’t be able to hear what she said.

"Ah!" The Gamma immediately understood why Iris was here. "Cane must have not told you about it, right?" Iris shook her head. "I am not surprised he didn’t explain anything to you." He thought Iris was an exception, but it seemed the Alpha’s way to not explain himself and the whole grandeur plan in his head had become a habit, which would be hard to change.

"What had the fourth prince done? The Alpha only said he is not as kind as people perceived him..."

"Well... he is not wrong." Ethan looked hesitant when he explained this, as he grimaced. He was not sure whether he was allowed to tell her about this or not.

However, with the consideration that the Alpha had brought her along with him on most of the missions and that Iris even knew his deepest secrets, the Gamma thought it wouldn’t hurt to let her have a little bit better understanding of the situation.

"What do you mean dissected their bodies?" Iris was stunned when she heard that.

"He thought there is a secret behind how those magic users got their powers and he does research on it with a few important figures in the Red Claw pack using the money came from the black market, which he got from selling children to Karam continent to be slaves, also from the magic stones that they sold underhandedly to Andelus continent."

Iris didn’t know about this. Cane was right. His title alone as the Prince of this kingdom would be a guarantee he was not as innocent as he seemed.

Iris could have never imagined about all of that if Ethan hadn’t told her, because Cane wouldn’t have explained such a thing to her. And she believed him, there was no reason for the Gamma to lie.

"If you think the way we treat the slaves in our mines is cruel, you must see how the Red Claw pack treats the slaves, who were working in their mines." Ethan didn’t elaborate further, but Iris could get the picture.

Ethan sighed when he saw how fast Iris’ expression fell. She was shocked and it was written all over her face, because she still remembered how Prince Vemion looked like a gentle and decent person. He had done such a cruel thing like research on magic users by cutting up their bodies?

"We can’t survive if we don’t watch our backs, Iris. The Alpha said the best defense is a good offense, therefore, we are always in a battle mode."
