Iris had seen this person before, whether it was in her memories or when he met with her secretly and then disappeared so quickly. It was the same person. It was the same man.
Rei.
He was the protector of the first Serafim. Na didn’t have five Holy Knights that were chosen to protect her, but she only had one and it was Rei.
It had been over five hundred years since the death of the first Serafim, but he was still alive. There must be some explanation behind it, but this was not the right time to demand an answer.
"What’s going on? Who is he?!" Haco immediately created a barrier around him and Iris, though it was so weak, since he had overused his magic power. It wouldn’t last for long. He should have brought more magic stones. Ethan would have given him more if he knew the sorcerer would encounter other magic users, or that Lady Cyan decided to expose herself as a witch.
However, Iris didn’t pay any attention to the sorcerer beside her, or the four dumbstruck warriors behind her. Her eyes were fixed on this golden haired man before her. His moss green colored eyes stared at her with longing.
"Rei?" Iris called his name and he pressed his lips tightly, as a surge of emotion came to the surface.
And it seemed, the lycan also recognized him, but he didn’t look happy at all, as he moved toward Iris. Instead of trying to kill the father and daughter duo, the lycan controlled the monsters and made them attack this man, along with Zeke and Cyan.
Without their magic, it would be the final blow that would definitely kill them.
Rei saw this coming and it was not only the lycan, who was dissatisfied with this encounter, but this man as well. He frowned and moved so fast, until you couldn’t see him. His figure flickered and then disappeared, only to reappear right next to Iris. He wrapped his arms around her waist to take her away.
Because of how fast his movements were and how unpredictable this man was, none of them had time to react when he took Iris away. This man literally kidnapped her right before their eyes!
Of course, the lycan was the first to react, as he let out a ferocious growl and started to rush away from the scene to get his mate back.
And without the lycan being in control of the monsters, these creatures started to act out. Their instincts kicked in and they went berserk.
"Damn it, Lu!" Haco cursed under his breath, as he moved toward the other four warriors. "Move! Move! Find a shelter! Run!"
Everything was a mess and they no longer cared about Cyan and Zeke when these monsters were hot on their heels.
However, the loud noise from the waterfall overwhelmed Iris, she felt like she was overstimulated with this sudden assault of sounds. Her world used to be very quiet, but right now, it was rich with a lot of noise.
"You know what happened before when you chose to be with the lycan. The lycan is a cursed creature for a reason."
"It’s Na who chose to be with the lycan," Iris stated clearly, she raised her voice, so Rei could hear her over the rumbling noise from the waterfall. "I am choosing to be with my mate."
His eyes dimmed when he heard that. "The lycan has wormed into his soul and the Alpha has tapped into his power too, they are essentially one," Rei said. "Just like how you will eventually become one with Na when you get a better sense of her power. Her memories are yours, so is her power."
"I am not Na and Cane is not Lu, don’t confuse yourself, Rei," Iris replied. "I am going to find Cane." She then turned around, but stopped when Rei called her name.
"You were not born deaf, Iris. It’s Na’s way to recognize the lycan. The first sound you heard is him, right?"
Iris turned around, her expression hard. She had this angry look. "As a Serafim, someone who should be kind and affectionate, divine and every beautiful adjective you can find, she sure knows how to mess up someone else’s life."
Having Gerald and Mason as her family was the worst luck she had, but the additional state of being deaf only added to her misery.
"Don’t talk badly about her, Iris, or else, you will not like what you are going to hear, now that you are able to do so."
