"I didn’t mean to interrogate you like a prisoner, Luna Iris," Oliver retorted. He lifted his head, but lowered it again when he met with Iris’ eyes. Somehow, he felt this uncomfortable feeling of fear for trying to fight her. "It’s only in your mind," he added, because he couldn’t confront the Luna the way he wanted.
"I feel what I feel. Just because you said you don’t, it doesn’t mean my feelings are not valid. You will be given an explanation, warrior, until then, I hope we can focus on the matter at hand." With that said, Iris turned around and continued to walk forward.
Of course, Oliver and the rest would be given an explanation, after all, they had witnessed something they shouldn’t and it should be handled with care. This was a secret that shouldn’t be revealed to so many people.
Meanwhile, seeing the dispute, the lycan leaned over and whispered into her ear. "Should I pull his tongue out and chop his limbs off? You look unhappy when you talk with him."
"Lu." His name rolled off her tongue with warning.
"I am just saying." Lu shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. Fortunately, neither Aliana nor Oliver heard what he said.
It didn’t take long before they finally managed to find Avid’s body. Somehow, more than five royal warriors seemed to have managed to track him down even though he took the roundabout way, so they wouldn’t know the whole path toward the pack house. And he was outnumbered greatly and as good as a warrior Avid was, he didn’t stand a chance.
He managed to kill five of them, whose bodies were scattered on the ground, but the rest managed to end his life. His enemy managed to claw his heart out, leaving a huge hole in his chest, which killed him.
It was a gruesome sight to say the least, but Iris didn’t even avert her eyes from it. She hardened her heart to look at Avid, probably this would be the last time she saw this man. His words of affirmation kept replaying in her mind and she couldn’t be more grateful for what he said and how he saw her differently.
Iris knelt down on the ground beside Avid’s body, as she took off her cloak and covered his body with it. She wiped the few traces of blood on his face with her bare hand and whispered softly to his spirit.
"Rest in peace, my brave warrior. I will make sure to take you home," Iris said gently, as her palms lit up and you could see the white light appear from it.
’Thank you, Luna. I hope there will be another chance where we can meet in a better place.’
Iris couldn’t answer that, her throat was constricted, as she held back her tears. But, she nodded and watched how the white light consumed him.
On the other hand, this was the first time for Aliana to see it and she was in awe, though she was not sure what Iris was going to do with it. For a moment, the white light floated in the air and then faded away before it vanished. Nothing particularly happened and this made Aliana frown.
At the very least, that was what she saw in this whole ordeal.
"Oliver, carry his body carefully," Iris said. She stood up and let Oliver do his job. She then looked at her surroundings and recognized the dead warriors were from the Blue Moon pack. Her jaw hardened.
She had this mixed feeling that the situation between her and the members of the Howling Wolf pack would only decline since the Blue Moon pack joined hands with the royals to attack the Howling Wolf pack. "Aliana, do you know this place?"
"Yes, I do."
"Can you lead the way back to the pack house?" Because Avid’s spirit had disappeared, there was no way she could find a way out of this big forest on her own.
"Sure." Aliana took the lead from there.
But, the truth was; the enemy had already known about the secret passageway and Avid fought them, in hopes he could prevent them from entering the pack house, this was why, during the battle, Jace and Redmond were at a loss as to how their enemy had penetrated their defenses and were in the pack house already.
Someone had leaked the information about the secret passageways in the Howling Wolf pack...
Iris and the others arrived at the pack house through the back yard and immediately went inside, where they met with Ethan and the others, who just arrived as well.
"How can you come so fast?" Ethan was surprised to see them.
"Secret passageway," Aliana replied curtly.
"I met Jace and the others on my way here, they are looking for you in the forest and also retrieving more dead bodies of our warriors there," Ethan said this to Aliana and Iris.
"I will go and tell him we are already here, so he doesn’t need to search for us," Aliana took the initiative.
"I will go with you," Ethan said immediately. "It can be dangerous, we don’t know if there are still enemies out there."
The Gamma was about to follow Aliana, but Iris stopped him again. "No, you stay Ethan, there is an important thing I want to talk about with you."
Meanwhile, Lu rested his head on Iris’ shoulder, exhausted. "Let’s cuddle..."
