Vermeyes was a monster with a pair of small red eyes, which didn’t match its monstrous body and it couldn’t run fast enough. But this time, they could actually rush toward their carriage and before their warriors could take the three of them down, one managed to break free and plowed into the side of the carriage.
The Vermeyes stepped on the horses, before it sent the carriage rolling down the hill. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"Oh, no!" Joel couldn’t do anything, aside from watching in horror when the monster sent the carriage rolling down the hill and it was a wreck with four people inside, as their bodies hit the sturdy carriage, not to mention there were a few things inside, such as a table and some cups, which shattered and hurt them more.
Joel was thrown out of the carriage and landed hard on the ground. As he lifted his head, he watched in horror when the carriage went down the steep hill, heading toward the cliff.
"Someone help the Luna!!!" Joel screamed, but when he looked around, he could see why no one came to his aid yet, as they were swarmed by a lot of monsters.
Massive attacks like this one were not common. Yes, they set out during a season where the monsters were very active, but this was too much. Even when they finally went back to the Howling Wolf pack from the Blue Moon pack, the monster attack was not this massive.
It overwhelmed them.
But, a second later, Joel caught something white from the corner of his eyes and it was Lil Thing! The white bear rushed to catch the carriage with a few monsters following behind it.
Thankfully, those monsters didn’t really care about Joel, who was sitting there, flabbergasted, as they aimed for a bigger treat.
Meanwhile, it was an amazing sight to see how the sloppy and lazy bear could outrun the carriage that rolled down so fast on the steep hill and actually stopped it by using its body. The white bear let out a loud and dangerous roar when the carriage made a collision with its body. The sound of it was so painful and it actually managed to stop the carriage before it could fall off the cliff.
Joel held his breath to watch everything that unfolded. He couldn’t care less about whether he was being attacked by the monsters or not, since in his current state, there was no way he would be able to defend himself and the only thing in his mind was the three people inside the carriage.
"Al... alpha! ALPHA!" Joel screamed at the top of his lungs when he saw the monsters that followed Lil Thing attacking the white bear without so much of a counterattack, aside from receiving a dangerous growl and viscous snarls, which didn’t stop them at all, since the monsters knew their target was in an helpless position.
The problem was; if Lil Thing fought the monsters, it had to let go of the carriage and for sure, it would slide down and fall off the cliff.
At this point, Lil Thing could only endure it, until help came.
"ALPHA! ALPHA!" Joel could only scream for his alpha, to get his attention, as he was pretty far from them and also swarmed by many monsters. There was a high chance Cane didn’t notice Iris’ predicament yet. "ALPHA CANE!"
Joel felt his chest tighten to see blood smearing Lil Thing’s white fur, as it tried to defend itself by using only one hand, but it made the carriage unstable.
Iris gritted her teeth, the pain made her head feel so light, but it was not something that she had never endured before. She had gone through worse than this and despite how fragile she looked, she had a high tolerance of pain.
Ignoring her body that was screaming in agony, Iris stood up and did something she was good at. She purified the black magic that surrounded the monsters around her.
And once she managed to do that, it was easy enough for the Alpha and Lil Thing to kill them all.
It seemed black magic was the reason why these monsters could work together and were way strong. The same thing that happened to those warriors from the Blue Moon pack, as they were so hard to be killed when they were under the influence of black magic.
After that, Iris walked toward Lil Thing. Knowing Cane wouldn’t let her go closer to the heart of the battle that was still going on, she chose the white bear to take her there.
"Take me there," Iris said to Lil Thing, as she climbed on top of the white bear. Its fur was sleek with blood and she grimaced when the bear whimpered in pain when she sat on its back. It didn’t shake her off of its body but obliged her.
Realizing Iris’ intention, the black beast immediately followed behind in an attempt to stop them, but Lil Thing had already taken Iris halfway there and it was close enough for her to purify the black magic around.
"STOP!" Iris roared.
