The Alpha King And His Chosen Luna novel Chapter 70

Judgement dry-

Judgement day

(Caius)

By the time we reached the pack house, word had already spread.

It always did in places like this. One rider seen at the road became ten whispers in a kitchen, then a full story before the doors ever opened. My wolves took position without being told. Two at the entrance. Two at the side hall. More through the room and outside in the yard.

There would be no confusion and no openings.

I dismounted first and helped Isla down.

She took my hand and stepped to the ground. I released her once she had her balance and looked at the house ahead of us. Same stone. Same doors. Same place where power had been used like a weapon for years and called order while it happened.

Let’s go,I said.

She nodded and moved beside me.

We entered through the main doors.

The corridor had wolves lining both sides, Ashcrest members standing back to make room for us. Most lowered their eyes when I passed. Some looked at Isla and then looked away faster than they meant to.

That was fine with me. Let them see her clearly before this began.

We reached the great hall and stepped inside.

The full pack had been assembled. Every rank. Every household. Warriors, workers, elders, mates, young adults old enough to witness formal judgment. The room was full but silent enough that each small sound carried. A boot shifting. Someone drawing breath too quickly. Cloth moving when hands adjusted at their

sides.

I walked Isla to the front.

Not behind me. Not hidden in the rear line. At my right, where all could see her plainly. Zeron took my left.

Raith stood near the aisle with six wolves behind him. Pryor waited by the records table, documents laid

out in exact order.

Every eye in the room moved toward us, then toward her.

I let that happen for a moment before I spoke.

Bring them in.

The side door opened at once.

Rodan came through in chains.

His wrists were bound in front with iron between them. Another length connected to restraints at the ankles short enough to control his pace. Hadoc came beside him under guard. Dolin followed behind with

two wolves at his back.

-Three men who had once walked these halls as if they owned the air in them now entered like criminals

because that was what they were.

Rodan looked ahead until he saw me.

Then he saw Isla. That was the only true break in his composure. A pause so brief most of the room would miss it. I didn’t miss it. His eyes settled on her one moment too long before he forced them forward again.

Good. Let him understand what this looked like.

My wolves placed them at the front of the hall and stepped back without surrendering control of the chains. Rodan in the center. Hadoc to one side. Dolin to the other.

The room grew quieter still.

I let the silence remain because silence had its uses when people feared what came next. I had planned this moment since the night I sat in Rodan’s office and read the investigation report by firelight. Every statement. Every witness account. Every record of food withheld, punishment ordered, doors locked, injuries ignored.

I’d read it all once in anger and again in clarity.

Then I built this day.

There would be no confusion here. No talk of misunderstanding. No appeal to tradition. No claim that discipline had gone too far by accident. Not one step of this had been accidental.

I looked across the front ranks.

Maren stood under guard with the others named in the report. Her face was composed in the practiced way of people who mistake expression for control. Derek stood near her, pale and hollow around the eyes. Brent looked furious. Vera looked frightened. Helene gave nothing away.

All of them were here and all of them were seen.

I let the room wait until the waiting itself became pressure,

Then I spoke.

You all know why you’re here.”

My voice carried cleanly through the hall.

r

This hearing concerns crimes committed under Rodan Hale’s authority and maintained by members of this pack over years. Those crimes were investigated under my direct order. The findings are complete. The accused are present. The witnesses have been heard. What remains now is formal judgment and sentence.”

No one moved.

No one answered.

I looked at Rodan.

Judgement d

He held my gaze with the last remains of pride men like him always tried to preserve when everything else Tad already been stripped away. Anger sat in him. Humiliation too. But under both was knowledge.

He knew there was no path out of this room.

I turned back to the pack.

This pack called cruelty discipline.

The words landed hard and stayed there.

It called neglect necessity. It called cowardice order. It called a child wolfless and used that word as permission for acts that would shame any pack worthy of the name.”

Movement passed through the crowd and then stopped again. Faces changed. Some with guilt. Some with denial. Some with the dawning understanding that silence was never as neutral as they’d told themselves.

Pryor opened the case file and placed the first pages before me.

I didn’t look down yet.

I’ll read the charges in full,” I said. No one will interrupt. No one will speak unless addressed. Anyone who mistakes this hearing for debate will be removed and dealt with separately.

Still silence filled the room.

That was how it should be.

I looked once toward Isla.

She stood where I’d placed her, head raised, eyes forward. Pale, yes. Controlled, yes. But present in every part of herself. She wasn’t lost in memory. She was here, in this hall, watching the men who had once shaped her life stand chained in front of her.

She met my eyes once.

That was enough.

I looked down at the first page.
