Chapter 304
cilia’s POV
Agony.
That was the first thing I felt: overwhelmed by pain and fear
A dull, throbbing ache pulsed through the back of my head, spreading down my neck and onto my shoulders. Every inch of my body screamed in protest as consciousness slowly returned.
I groaned, my eyelids fluttering open.
Nothing but darkness greeted me.
We… not completely darkness. Thin slivers of moonlight filtered through the tiny, barred window high above my head; way above my head, casting a pale stream across a damp dirt floor.
Dirt?…
Confusion washed over me; this wasn’t my room. It wasn’t my mother’s bedroom…
My heart lurched.
I shot upright, only for a wave of dizziness to slam into me so violently that I nearly collapsed again. The metallic rattle of chains echoed through the room, and I winced at the burning sensation as my skin fought against the silver.
Chains? Silver?
My eyes darted downward, and my stomach dropped when I saw the cold iron shackles circling both my wrists, lashed to heavy chains bolted into the stone wall behind me.
My ankles were bound as well.
Panic exploded inside my chest.
“No….”
I tugged hard, a desperate cry leaving my lips. The chains didn’t even budge; I pulled at them again, but still nothing.
They had me completely restrained.
“Lora?” I whispered.
Silence.
It was quieter than the silence I was becoming used to. At least then, I could feel her presence despite it being in the furthest part of my mind. But now… it was like she wasn’t there at all.
Tears burned my eyes, and my chest clenched with helplessness-had I truly lost my wolf and my strength?
But then I felt it; burning its way through my system, and I pressed my lips together.
Wolfsbane.
My hands instinctively flew toward my stomach before the chains yanked them short, my heart practically in my throat. My baby…

“Oh, Goddess… please… let my baby be okay,” I begged silently, clutching my belly as hope flickered within me.
osed my eyes, forcing myself to breathe despite the panic threatening to consume me. There wasn’t any pain… no cramping or bleeding. I had to hold onto the hope that it meant my baby was okay.
“I’ll get us out of here,” I say, my voice laced with certainty.
The heavy wooden door creaked open; I quickly wiped my face against my shoulder just as four familiar figures entered.
They were the masked gammas; the ones who claimed to be sent by King Leopold. I definitely didn’t believe them … he wouldn’t have done this.
One of the gammas was carrying a lantern, and another carried a bucket of water. The tallest one stepped forward, and I saw he was smiling beneath his mask; it sent a chill down my spine.
“Look who’s finally awake.”
No one said a word; I lifted my chin and curled my lip.
“If you expect me to beg…”
His laugh echoed off the stone walls.
“Shut the fuck up,” the gamma growled, stepping closer to me. “You have zero right to speak.”
Without warning, he reached out, grabbing a fistful of my hair and forcing my head back. I grunted as pain shot across my scalp.
“You have no idea who you are dealing with,” he said, his tone lethal.
“What do you want from me?” I asked through my teeth, my body trembling.
“Us? We want nothing,” the gamma told me. “But someone is paying a lot of money for this…. we weren’t going to pass up an opportunity.”
The others laughed like it was some big joke; I felt a growing sense of bitterness clawing its way out.
“When the King finds out-
A sharp laugh cut me off.
“Do you truly think that the King gives a shit about his pathetic concubine?” One of the gammas barked out a laugh. “He has his mate now; there’s no use for you or room for you in his life. Why do you think he sent you away in the first place?”
It felt like my heart was cracking open, but I swallowed down the pain.
“You have no idea what you are talking about,” I said, my eyes narrowing.
This only made him laugh even harder as he released my hair, making me fall to the ground. I let my hands rest protectively on my belly, glad that I was still thin enough that they couldn’t tell that I was pregnant.
