The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Vanessa POV

I had pulled out the IVs, and there was a little bit of blood that ran down my arm. I ran into the bathroom, shut the light off, and locked the door. I then found the corner as far away from the door as possible. I fell against the bathroom wall and screamed out in pain, which was pointless because it did not sound like anything. My mouth was shaped like I was screaming, but no sound came out. It was no use trying to be quiet because Thomas was outside in the room. But if he got into the bathroom, he wouldn’t find me easily. He would have to find the light switch.

The curtain to the shower was pulled when I came into the bathroom, so I chose to hide in the corner of the shower where it would require him to pull it back. With any luck, I could crawl past him and leave the room without being noticed. I stopped bleeding, and there were no blood trails that he could follow. But from the commotion I heard in the room, he would not get in there. It sounded like there was a war going on in the other room. Even though it was just two people, I wanted to peek my head out and see what was happening, but that would be pointless.

Even if I could see anything, did I want to see what was happening? I knew there was going to be blood. Thomas fighting an alpha was going to cause him to be put to death. He got away with a lot because my father allowed him to get away with things. Alpha Alfred did not seem like the type to allow that. It made me wonder how he ran his pack. Was he a kind ruler or a horrible and mean ruler? I have heard rumors that he was a vicious and cold-hearted ruler. There is a rumor that he killed his parents.

Again, there are rumors. I think they were created to scare people and make them afraid of him. After what seemed like an eternity, no more noise came from the room. Instead, a doctor was saying that someone had been fatally injured and that he might not make it. I knew it was Thomas without even hearing his name. If Alfred and I were true mates, I would have felt that he had been injured.

The bathroom door slowly opened. I pulled my knees closer to my chest and closed my eyes. I was waiting to get hit or worse. The light was not turned on, and the shower curtain did not move. Instead, I heard a thump.

” Little one, I know you are there.”

He knew I was hiding in the shower, but he did not try to drag me out or even turn the lights on.

” You have nothing to be afraid of.”

Was he joking? He just fought Thomas, and I could smell blood. I knew that he was hurt, but Thomas got hurt worse. So, who was he kidding that I had nothing to fear? He just hurt someone strong and a great warrior. I know he is an alpha. They are the strongest among us. It was not a huge surprise. From what I could tell, he was firm. He was also taller than me. I heard him move, and I froze.

I then saw his feet. They were against the wall. He was the full length of the bathroom. If I lay down, I would only go halfway through the room.

” You don’t have to come out right now, but can you do me a favor and touch my feet if you are OK?”

That is a weird request. He wants me to touch his feet to let him know I’m OK. What is he thinking? Also, he is an alpha. I have to obey his commands even if I don’t want to. But he is asking me for a favor. Did he get hit in the head and forget who he is?

” My sweet girl, rattle the shower curtain a little if that is too much for you now.”

I reached out and, with a shaking hand, touched his feet.

He then gently picked me up. After picking me up, he grabbed the IV pole, pulled it with us, and carried me to the bathroom. He gently sat me down on the toilet. I still had my underwear on, and I had not pulled the gown up. He then left the bathroom. I did my business, and when I opened the door. I ran straight into his back and fell. He had been outside the door waiting for me.

” Baby, are you OK.”

He was down on one knee almost instantly and grabbed my hands to help me. The IV pole had also fallen because I had grabbed it, hoping it would stop me from falling. Besides my butt hurting, I was OK. I nodded my head yes. After I got to my feet, he picked me up again. Nothing is wrong with my legs, so why does he insist on carrying me everywhere? I can walk. Then he sat me down on the bed again. I pointed to my feet and moved them and my legs to show him they worked. He chuckled.

” I know your legs work.”

” But I want to touch you and have you as close to me as possible.”

I shrugged my shoulders. I will have to get used to it. I did not mind being touched by him. When he touched me, I could feel sparks all over my body, and it felt good.
