The Alpha’s Nanny (Lori and Gabriel) novel Chapter 271

Chapter 271

“I have to get ready.”

She murmurs, her voice thick with desire. I run my hands through her dark hair, liking the silky wet feel of it.

“Just a few seconds.”

I whisper in her ear as I nibble gently.

She chuckles.

“I won’t get anything done today if you start.”

“There’s always tomorrow.”

I encourage as my hands find the button of the shirt. I miss her. Every-time she was gone I wanted her back to me, and every moment spent without her was inconsequential.

Surprisingly, she helps me with the buttons, raising her shoulders and letting me pull off the shirt. She was naked underneath. I knew it.

I pull her close and she runs her finger in my hair, her head tilted backwards.

I plant little kisses on her chest, all the way down to her abdomen.

Slowly, I lay her on the bed to continue and before I continue, there’s a persistent knock on the door.

This is our life with kids now. Interruptions every now and then.

It’s cute sometimes, but it could also be annoying.

But the knock wasn’t from the two kids we have who can now walk, no, it was from our new tone deaf nanny Sydney. She comes highly recommended and she’s great with the kids, but she lacks social awareness.

She would barge in at odd times and interrupt our conversations. Lori tells me to give her some ‘slack because she’s still adjusting, Oh well, I have no more slacks to give,

“Who is it?”

In a flash Lori was out of bed and buttoning ho the dress shirt as she hurried towards the door.

I sigh, knowing that now I wouldn’t be able to interrupt her once Sydney starts talking to her.

I pull the covers over my throbbing erection as the door opened.

It was Sydney. She had brought the kids. She thought we would like to say hello to them before they left for their walk in the park.

Emilia and Jack walk into the room in their tiny pajamas. Their small feet waddling towards Lori who now has her arms outstretched towards them.

She kneels down and picks them up in her arms and

they

erupt into giggles.

“Ma-ma!”

Emilia calls out. A word she had grown quite accustomed to in the last few months and it had brought tears to Lori’s eyes when she heard them for the first

time.

Everyone says every kids first words is Da-da. Not Emilia’s though.

“Hi!!!!”

Lori squeals.

At the sight of all of them, all my frustration and pent up anger washes away. I smile at them, feeling complete. And happy. And contented.

This is it.

This is the life I’ve always wanted.

A family to call my own, with a soulmate. The woman who I want to spend the rest of my life with.

“Let’s go say hello to daddy.”

I vaguely hear Lori saying as she starts walking towards the bed and then it hits me.

I’ve been searching for the perfect moment, but now, now more than ever, I’ve never wanted to say the words ‘marry me’ as much as I longed to say it now.

I reach for the bedside drawer where I had the ring safely tucked.

Lori was already on the bed and Jack was a crawling to me.

I manage to get the box in time to tackle Jack and give him a hug. Emilia too.

I turn to Lori who is watching the kids and I and smiling and I look into her eyes.

She finds me staring and looks into mine. Her free hand touches my face.

I pull out the box.

“Marry me.”

I say as I show her the ring.

She didn’t even look at it, she just smiled again and then sighed.

“I thought you’d never ask!”

What?!

“You’ve been waiting for me to ask?”

I ask, flabbergasted and mildly flushed.

Lori shakes her head.

“Not really. But I saw the ring two months ago and Myra and I have been taking bets on how you were going to pop the question.”

My jaw drops.
