Chapter 83: 083: Heat symptoms?

~ ROSELLE ~

I don’t know what’s wrong with me.

I can’t explain it, this burning intensity that’s taken over my entire body, making me feel like I’m on fire from the inside out. All I know is that I need Ronan. I need him all over me. The ache between my thighs is unbearable now, a deep, throbbing pulse that feels like it’s begging for something only he can give. It’s wet and hot and empty, like my body knows he has exactly what it needs to soothe it.

And the fact that I can’t feel any more pain around my rib area... even though I was discharged earlier with broken ribs and deep bruises... it’s obvious now. They’ve healed. Completely. The skin is smooth under my fingers, no tenderness, no lingering ache. Ronan just noticed it too, I can see the shock in his eyes as he runs his hands over my sides, checking again like he can’t believe it.

Why am I suddenly feeling this needy? This desperate?

Does it have anything to do with that dream? That monstrous beast and the filthy, degrading things it whispered to me, about knotting me, breeding me, ruining me until I was nothing but a dripping, broken mess for it? The memory makes my core clench involuntarily, shame and unwanted heat mixing together in my belly.

I shouldn’t be thinking about that, not now that Ronan is right here.

But the ache won’t stop. It only grows stronger the longer I straddle his lap, feeling the hard length of him pressing against me through our clothes. My hips shift without my permission, grinding down just a little, and a soft, needy sound escapes my throat before I can stop it.

"Roselle..." Ronan’s voice is hoarse, strained, his hands gripping my hips tighter to still me. His grey eyes are dark with lust and concern.

His eyes are fixed on my skin, and that’s when I notice it. The injuries Mara inflicted on me, the very ones Elias had treated, are healing.

What’s going on with me?

"Sit up. I’m going to get Elias." Ronan immediately rises to his feet, gently helping me onto the bed before dashing out of the room.

I flex my hand, running my fingers over the spot where the injury had been. It’s healed, and the skin feels warm at my touch. My entire body is heating up.

The door swings open as Ronan and Elias hurry into the room. Elias walks straight over to me and reaches for my hand. The color suddenly drains from his face as his eyes dart from me to Ronan, then back to my hand again.
