Chapter 731: DRAWN BLOOD

RUBY’S STORY

I watched as blood slowly rolled down the side of his face.

Neither of us moved.

We simply just stood there.

It was as though the air itself had gone still.

The birds I had heard singing around a while back had gone mute.

My chest rose and fell rapidly.

I began to panic and then I held my ground.

I wasn’t going to feel bad for something *he* had done.

Maybe now he would understand exactly what I thought about wolves who hunted innocent creatures for sport.

His fingers slowly moved to the cut above his brow.

He looked at the blood.

Then he looked at me.

Those grey eyes became dangerously calm.

Somehow that was far worse than anger.

"You threw an arrow at me?" He asked in a very cold voice.

I rose a brow. "I should have aimed lower."

His jaw tightened.

"And quite frankly, I didn’t just throw *an* arrow, I threw your arrow." I snapped at him as I tilted my head to look at him. "I mean doesn’t it look familiar anymore? The same one you used to shoot down a rare almost extinct golden eagle."

His face was written with rage and I turned around to look for the left over arrows I was sure he had.

It was only then, that I noticed he had men around him.

They were all seemingly members of the pack and looked to be within the ranks of Betas and omegas.

They looked ready to defend him in a second.

As though they were waiting for a snap of his finger before they sprung into action.

I grumbled to myself.

I was most definitely not going to be intimidated by the likes of them. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"You have quite a mouth." He sneered. "Didn’t your mother tell you to know your place? As a woman?"

"Didn’t your mother tell you to regard a woman better?" I fired back.

He seemed stunned.

I relished in my small victory.

"And also you have quite the talent for terrorizing defenseless animals." I chipped in.

His stare hardened.

For a split second I assumed he was going to hit me.

So I simply grounded myself.

And I remembered what mother had said.

Don’t fight.

I looked around and saw that I was terribly outnumbered.

If push came to shove, my best bet of getting out of this alive was making a run for it.

He took a step towards me and I took a step back, almost stumbling.

He caught my chin and forced me to look at his unnecessarily handsome face.

"You think because you have a pretty face you can get away with anything?" He asked me. "You’re in my pack. My pack house and I’m going to teach you how to be a lady. You think because you have a pretty face you can get away with anything?"

I snapped my jaw away from his grip and looked at him in horror.

"Who gave birth to you?" I said alarmed.
