Chapter 135
Mary couldn’t believe this.
If Nicole weren’t afraid of her storage space being exposed, she wouldn’t have come out this early.
Thinking about how carefree Nicole was living while she had to trade her body just to stay alive, Mary burned with rage. If she had gotten that crystal pendant, she wouldn’t have ended up like this!
Life was unbearable now. Edward was nothing but a spineless leech, living off women. He had her as a girlfriend, yet still slept with Faye for food.
After sleeping with her, he even pushed her onto other men to trade for food.
Just yesterday, he forced Faye to go out with Oliver for work for five pounds of food. Faye came back covered in injuries, not a patch of skin left untouched.
Edward ate the food Faye traded her body for without a trace of guilt. If anything, he had started brainwashing her.
Mary knew it would definitely be her turn next.
If she refused, he would use the same trick he used on Faye, drugging her and sending her out anyway. There was no escaping it.
Mary hated it, but she knew the truth. Without Edward and the others, she would be even worse off. She couldn’t live like this another day.
She didn’t want to keep playing along. She really didn’t. She wanted to crawl into her bed at home, eat rich, flavorful food, and buy endless new dresses. She wished this were all just a dream, that she would wake up, and everything would be back to normal.
But it wasn’t. This was a nightmare she would never wake from.
Mary wanted to cry, but she was afraid the tears would freeze and ruin her face.
With no other choice, she stayed where she was, stubbornly waiting for Nicole to show up.
Nicole took out her thermos and sipped hot water. Only when Mary looked like she was about to collapse from the cold did she finally step out slowly.
Mary’s eyes lit up. “Nicole.”
She knew it! Nicole had to be scared of her secret getting out.
Looking at Nicole’s brand-new clothes, her calm, confident stride, then down at her own mismatched layers scavenged from the dead made Mary sick. At night, she even dreamed of those frozen corpses coming after her.
At that moment, jealousy consumed Mary.

If she had the storage space, Nicole’s life should’ve been hers!
This time, Mary had deliberately left Edward and the others behind. No matter what, she had to succeed.
Listening to Mary’s overly familiar tone, like she was greeting a close friend, Nicole found it almost laughable.
The nerve of her!
“What do you want?” Nicole demanded.
With no one else around, Mary dropped the act and got straight to the point. “I know you have a storage
space.”
Nicole raised a brow. “And how do you know that?”
“You don’t need to worry about that. I just know.”
They were already here, so Nicole didn’t bother pretending either. “Yeah, I have one. So what?”
“If people found out you had a storage space filled with enough supplies to live like it’s before the apocalypse, what do you think they’d do?”
