The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 217

Chapter 217

The deal had turned out even better than expected. Weasel had been praised again by his boss. More importantly, he had managed to push the goods into the upper circles.

He still found it funny. The same rich kids who used to throw money around without a second thought now lit up the moment they saw a condom. Prices doubled, even tripled, and they didn’t even try to bargain.

Who would have thought they would end up worrying about something like that?

Nicole felt a flicker of interest at the mention of a whole cow, but her expression stayed calm. “Fine. We’ll

do it in batches.”

“No problem.”

It took several days, but they eventually completed the entire trade.

Just as she was about to leave, Weasel spoke again. “Miss, we’ve got mutton, too. Interested?”

Nicole did not bother hiding it this time. “How much?”

“One hundred fifty pounds total.”

After two large deals, she only had a little over 1,000 large condoms left. She decided to hold onto the rest. In a couple of years, they would be worth even more.

After taking the mutton, she added, “I don’t want anyone knowing about our deals.”

Weasel understood immediately. “Don’t worry. We’re professionals. As long as the goods are real, we don’t ask about private trades.”

In truth, he ran his own side deals, too. Otherwise, there would be no way to support his family.

The mutton was not a lot, but with pork, beef, and fish already stocked, plus everything Nicole had gathered before, it was enough for her and Cola for a long time.

She silently thanked nature for what it had given her.

After Zeph went out for a while, Nicole stayed in with the two of them. With Poppy around, she didn’t turn on the electric heater and used charcoal instead. She made mashed potatoes mixed with minced meat, and both of them ate happily.

Beatrice and the others stayed at the hillside villas for five days. By the time they came back, they had dragged several hundred pounds of charcoal with them.

They were covered head to toe in soot, looking like they had just crawled out of a mine. Even their faces showed the strain.

Nicole and Zeph helped carry the charcoal upstairs. Cola, always competitive, clamped onto a sack and kept tugging it upward.

Surviving was never easy. Plenty of people had gone to the villas for firewood. The three of them had taken turns guarding their spot day and night, and even then, they had been targeted.

If they hadn’t been strong enough, and if they hadn’t been wearing makeshift armor reinforced with steel panels, things could have gone badly.

In the end, they had to pull out a gun to drive off the troublemakers.

Once they got back, all three collapsed onto the couch, too exhausted to even talk.

Nicole lit a charcoal stove for them and made a big pot of spaghetti with ground meat. Only after eating did they start to recover a little.

They boiled water over the charcoal stove, washed up from head to toe, and went straight to bed. By the next afternoon, they finally looked like themselves again

Nicole and Zeph had stayed behind, keeping watch over the building Beatrice offered each of them 50 pounds of charcoal.

Neither of them took it.

The Goodmans tried to refuse as well, but she pressed it into Gabrielle’s hands. “If you hadn’t shown us how to make charcoal, we wouldn’t have been able to bring any back.” 1
