The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 232

Chapter 232

“Seriously, I’m out,” Nicole answered firmly, genuinely terrified Weasel might blurt out the word “condom”

or “rubber” in the next second.

Weasel looked disappointed for all of two seconds before quickly recovering. “Then what do you need? I’ve got everything here.”

Nicole asked about rice, flour, and cooking oil, only to immediately lose interest after hearing the prices.

So she turned toward Zeph instead. “What about you? Need anything?”

Zeph thought for a moment before asking Weasel, “You got planting troughs and fertilizer?”

Weasel blinked in surprise. “What do you need those for?”

Zeph’s gaze cooled slightly. “You got them or not?”

Under that pressure alone, Weasel instinctively swallowed. “Yeah, I do. But the planting troughs are plastic. In weather like this, they crack pretty easily.”

They weren’t exactly high-profit merchandise.

“We’ll take it. How much?” Nicole asked.

She actually still had more than a dozen large planting containers left in her storage space, but she figured Zeph was probably planning to grow potatoes on a much larger scale.

The potatoes had been growing well so far. Once they harvested this round, they would probably expand production and stockpile as much as possible before the extreme heat arrived. They could either keep them for food or trade them for other supplies later.

“I’ve got around 30 of them. They’re roughly 12 by 32 inches, plus about 200 pounds of compound fertilizer. What are you trading for them?”

“Buckhorn herbal tonic,” Nicole replied. “It helps boost male vitality.”

Weasel’s eyes lit up instantly.

As expected of the one and only Nicole. Her trades always hit differently. Rich people loved that stuff.

Immediately, Weasel shamelessly shot for the moon. “That’s a lot of goods. I need five bottles.”

Nicole looked at him like he had lost his mind. “One bottle.”

“Come on, nobody does business like that.”

Nicole didn’t budge “We’re helping you clear dead stock. If we don’t buy it, who else is going to?”

Weasel nearly choked from frustration. Couldn’t she let him profit a little for once?

After knocking him down a peg, Nicole casually threw him a consolation prize.

“Relax. If we find more good trade goods later, we’ll still come to you.”

“Fine,” Weasel muttered helplessly. “Can’t exactly offend my best customer, can I?”

Then he hurriedly added, “Just remember me first if you get anything good later.”

Once they settled on a time and place for the exchange, Zeph carried the dog while Nicole held Poppy’s hand as they headed deeper into the trading street.

If you didn’t wander around personally, you’d never realize what people were secretly selling.

Someone was quietly trading cold-resistant potatoes and antifreeze, asking for five pounds of rice per

set.

Unfortunately, barely anyone believed them.

And even if they did, how many survivors could actually afford five pounds of rice?

Nearby, someone was selling handmade cotton shoes with thick, layered soles. The uppers were knitted from yarn and padded with cotton inside.

Nicole picked up a pair and examined them carefully.

They looked genuinely warm. The yarn smelled clean and new, and the soles were waterproof without turning stiff in the cold.

Those were good shoes.

The problem was that most survivors still struggled just to eat. Nobody wanted to spend precious food on expensive new footwear when secondhand shoes were much cheaper.

As for where those secondhand goods came from, most people preferred not to think too hard about it as long as the price was low enough.

One pair cost half a pound of rice, though the seller was willing to accept one pound of frozen potatoes instead after bargaining.

Nicole picked out three pairs.

Poppy immediately started choosing, too. “Zeph, I want these.”

Zeph crouched down to help her and selected two pairs in the same size.

Men really weren’t great at shopping for kids.

“These kinds of shoes last forever,” Nicole pointed out. “One pair can last years without wearing out. Poppy’s still growing fast, though, so you should buy bigger sizes.”

Zeph clearly had no idea

Since she was already involved anyway, Nicole properly picked out two more pairs after making Poppy try them on. One pair was two sizes larger than her current fit, while the other was sized for around age
