Chapter 351
Nicole picked up the binoculars and spotted a group of people carrying hoes and sticks, more than 20 of them, heading straight for Oakhaven Gardens. They looked like locals from nearby.
They gathered at the entrance. It quickly turned into a standoff, then a fight.
An alarm went off inside Oakhaven Gardens. Men, women, even older kids rushed out and formed a defensive line.
Nicole tossed the half-eaten watermelon to Cola and focused on what was happening.
Alex was leading them. Their fighting skills weren’t anything impressive, but this clearly wasn’t their first time. They had the advantage of home ground. They relied on simple but effective tactics, sand to the eyes and bursts of pepper spray. They drove the group back fast.
Still, it looked like a few people got hurt.
From start to finish, it was all close-range fighting.
That evening, when the two of them drove back to their building, they saw a van parked at the entrance. The doors were wide open. Several bald men with tattoos sat inside, one smoking, another idly flipping a knife.
When the Hummer pulled up, the man in front flicked his cigarette to the ground and crushed it.
“You from the 18th floor?”
Zeph rolled down the window, his gaze steady. “What do you want?”
The man raised a brow. “Don’t tell me you forgot. You killed some of our guys a few days ago.”
Zeph didn’t react to the threat. “They came at us first. We ended it. Got a problem with that?”
The knife-flipping tattooed men snapped and rushed forward, knife raised. “You think you can just kill our people and walk away…”
Zeph’s gaze went cold. “Try it.”
The man was about to bring the knife down when the leader stopped him.
The leader forced a smile. “You killed several men from Ironvale Base. By our rules, we should take revenge. But our boss values talent. Join the base, and we’ll let it go.”
Zeph shook his head. “Not interested.”
The man’s expression stiffened. “Think about it. We won’t hold it against you. You’ll eat well, live well, and have your pick of women. You won’t get that out here.”
Zeph repeated, “Not interested.”
The man’s face darkened. “So you’re turning down a good deal?”
“Yeah. I am.”
The tattooed men started to close in, but the leader stopped them again. He stared at Zeph, something cold flashing in his eyes.
“Fine. You’re gonna regret it. Let’s go.”
The van sped off.

Inside, the men started complaining. “Why wouldn’t you let us take him out?”
“Take him out?” The leader narrowed his eyes. “Did you forget what happened to the others?”
