The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 381

Chapter 381

After leaving Ironvale Base, Nicole’s group realized they had nowhere to go.

They couldn’t return to Crownview Residences, and they hadn’t found a new place yet, so all they could do was keep moving through the night.

After everything that had happened, they were exhausted and in desperate need of rest.

Nicole had Zeph drive to a remote, empty stretch. Before Poppy got out, she pulled out a high-end RV worth a fortune.

It was spacious and fully equipped, with two bedrooms and a living room. The built-in storage couldn’t match a house, but for an RV, it was as good as it got.

The only drawback was that she had found several keys and remotes inside, but not the ignition key. Even so, it was more than enough. They could use it as a place to stay and save fuel.

To avoid drawing attention, she pulled all the blackout curtains closed. 1

Despite everything earlier, they had barely eaten. Nicole brought out hot food and called the two little ones to the dining area.

They had played a huge part in getting them out safely, so she rewarded them with a couple of meaty chicken drumsticks.

As Poppy ate, she suddenly asked Nicole, “What about the other kids?”

She meant the ones around her age.

Nicole reassured her, “Don’t worry. The police will take care of them.”

That included the pregnant women and the others. Nicole was confident Jasper and his people would handle it properly.

Some would be glad to be free. Others might not. Either way, it was no longer their concern.

After taking down two bases in a single day, the stretch from Westbridge to the Grayport coast would likely stay quiet for a while. Whether other groups would rise later, Nicole couldn’t say, but she hoped not.

After dinner, the two little ones watched cartoons in the living room while Nicole quietly filled the water tank, took a long hot shower, and sat on the couch with some fruit.

She popped a grape into Zeph’s mouth. “Do you think those women we locked up will talk about us?”

They didn’t know everything, but the four of them stood out, and they had crossed paths with Jasper before. It wouldn’t be hard to connect the dots.

The risk was real. Zeph said, “We should avoid Jasper from now on.”

Westbridge was large. Running into him again wouldn’t be easy.

Besides, they had already stocked up on most of what they needed, so unless something changed, they wouldn’t be moving around much.

Nicole asked, “Where do we stay next?”

Zeph thought for a moment. “What about Oakhaven Gardens?”

At least Alex had organized a rescue team after the earthquake and did it without asking for anything. From what he had seen, people there trusted him.

Nicole nodded. “Let’s check it out tomorrow. If it looks good, we’ll settle there.” 2

If not, they could always keep looking. Two years into the apocalypse, finding a place like that was rare.

It was already late, and sleep started to catch up with them.

Cola took the couch, Poppy had the smaller bedroom, and Nicole and Zeph took the master.

Outside, the temperature was still over 100 degrees, but with the AC running, the RV was comfortable.

Nicole pulled out a light blanket, turned off the lights, and lay down. Maybe it was everything they had taken tonight, but even though she was tired, she couldn’t fall asleep.

She brought Zeph into the storage space and showed him everything they had gathered. Pork, beef, lamb, fish, seafood, more than enough of everything.

Zeph glanced at the extra alcohol. “Are we really going to drink all that?”
