The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 428

Chapter 428

Sven wasn’t the type to show up injured, under a blazing sun, unless it was urgent.

The gate wasn’t a good place to talk. He ground out his cigarette and stepped aside. “I need a batch of medicine and water. Fast, Can you help?”

Nicole looked at him. “You know how scarce medicine is. A batch isn’t happening. Even a few life-saving doses are hard to come by.”

“I know.” He let out a breath. “The quake came out of nowhere. My son got trapped under the rubble. The official rescue team pulled him out. They took a real risk.”

He was the kind of man who repaid what he owed. The rescue teams were short on people and supplies. They pulled survivors out, only to watch some of them die because there wasn’t enough medicine.

Nicole felt the weight of it. “There are too many survivors. Even if you donate, how many can you really save?”

What she and Zeph had stored wouldn’t last. And this wasn’t the last disaster. There would be more.

Accidents could happen anytime. What happened to Poppy was a perfect example. If Nicole gave up her own margin now, who would help her later?

Sven had been getting by in this world for more than two years. He had seen what people turned into when they had no way out.

He didn’t argue. “I’m donating to the rescue teams. They saved my kid. I’m paying that back.”

A lot of them were injured themselves, working without enough supplies. That was why he wanted the medicine.

Nicole exhaled. “My supplier’s gone. Last I heard, he got sent to a labor camp. Whatever he had was confiscated.”

Sven frowned. “Fine. I’ll figure something else out for the medicine. What about water?”

In this heat, lack of water killed just as fast.

Nicole didn’t answer right away. After a moment, she said, “I can get you a truckload. You can decide where it goes.

Who actually got it was another question. At least the intention would be there.

Sven eased a little. “Alright. What do you want?”

“It won’t be top quality, but it’ll be clean. Boil it, and it’s safe.” Nicole, didn’t name a price. “Call it a personal donation, but anonymous. If anyone asks, you don’t mention me.”

Sven studied her. “The quake didn’t just bring down buildings. Most of the wells collapsed. Do you know what water’s worth right now?”

People were desperate enough to drink their own urine.

Nicole knew. A single 20-ton truck could save a lot of lives. That was the only reason she was willing to part with it.

“I’ve taken help from the authorities before. This is me returning it.”

Sven thought it over, then lowered his voice. “Have you heard anything about reconstruction?”

Nicole shook her head.

Sven dealt with people who had money. His information ran deeper.

“They knew about the quake early. Once the floods pulled back, they started collecting steel, factories, and all kinds of materials.

“They made deals with companies willing to donate. Confiscated assets get converted into credits. When supplies open up or reconstruction starts, those credits can be used, and they get priority access.
