Chapter 47
Even after a second trip, the men still couldn’t carry everything. A lot of bottled water and drinks were left behind, so Zeph and Jeremy went back out for one more run.
By the time everything was hauled up to the 18th floor, it was already past 1 a.m.
They didn’t sleep. Instead, they divided the supplies right away.
Nicole ended up with a large share. She got medicine, grains, beef, alcohol, about 10 pounds of high-quality rice, over a dozen cases of bottled water, eight cases of milk, two big sacks of snacks and instant food, plus a bunch of other odds and ends.
It was enough to last six months without worrying.
The only real problem now was the seeds.
Everyone knew they were valuable, but aside from Nicole, no one really understood how to handle them. With all the rain and humidity, they could go bad fast if stored incorrectly.
Nicole thought for a moment. “How about I take care of them? I’ll see if I can get something growing with hydroponics. If it works, I’ll show you guys.’
It wasn’t greed.
With disasters like this, extreme heat or cold could hit at any time. There might not be any stable conditions to grow crops at all. And if seeds sat too long, they would lose viability.
Her storage space could preserve them. She genuinely wanted to keep them safe. If things ever stabilized and researchers found a way to grow crops again, she could donate them anonymously.
After all, she only had about 100 square feet of soil in her storage space. The seeds she already had would last her a lifetime.
No one objected. They even helped carry everything into her place.
“Whether we ever get fresh vegetables again is all on you now,” Hughie joked.
“I’ll try,” Nicole said. “No promises.”
She was exhausted. After a quick shower, she crashed the moment her head hit the pillow.
Sleeping late messed with her head. When she finally woke up around noon, she still felt out of it.
After a full day of junk food, her throat was dry, and her stomach felt off.
She pulled out a proper meal with rice, ribs, and stir-fried greens, still hot from the pan. The first bite hit deep, settling something in her chest. She finished it off with a bowl of mushroom soup.
That felt right.
Full and finally satisfied, she stepped into her storage space…and froze.
What the hell?
For a second, she thought she had walked into the wrong place. The supplies were all hers, but the space had changed.

It was bigger.
What used to be a two-bedroom layout had turned into three.
And not just that. Everything had expanded.
The main bedroom was about 50 square feet larger. The second bedroom had grown by 20 feet, too. The living room, bathroom, kitchen, and even the balcony. And there was a whole new room, around 100 square feet on its
own.
Nicole looked outside. The garden had doubled in size, from 100 square feet to 200.
What did that mean?
Not just vegetables. She could grow fruit now, too.
Nicole grabbed a measuring tape and checked everything. Altogether, it had increased by roughly 500 square feet, about 5,000 cubic feet.
Excitement hit first, then confusion.
