The Apocalypse Survival Manual (Three Days Before Doomsday, I Stockpiled Billions) novel Chapter 494

Chapter 494

Once the gate was installed, the house felt much more secure. Zeph rammed into it several times, but it didn’t budge, instantly doubling Nicole’s sense of safety.

Sven immediately decided to copy it. He pulled out his phone, took several pictures, and planned to have an identical gate made.

The HOA moved quickly. No one had come by to collect the food contributions yet, but the security patrol was already up and running.

The guards worked in teams of ten, with one team assigned to the east side and another to the west. Each shift had twenty people in total.

Nicole stood on the rooftop and watched a patrol march past below.

They looked capable enough. Most were young and well built, and some of them had probably received combat training.

After dinner, Nicole clipped a leash onto Cola and took him for a walk around the neighborhood.

In an open area, the Robinsons’ bodyguards were training the security team. They were teaching them defensive moves and attack techniques, and the guards looked competent enough. Whether they could hold their own in a real fight was another question.

As Nicole passed a group of socialites, one of them suddenly called out in a sweet voice, “Camila, did you get your hair done?”

Nicole kept walking with Cola.

Then someone came over and reached for her shoulder.

“Camila…”

The moment Nicole sensed someone approaching, she instinctively grabbed the woman’s wrist.

The woman cried out in pain. “Ow!”

If Nicole hadn’t stopped herself in time, she would have flipped the woman over her shoulder.

Nicole turned, her gaze sharp.

The woman whose wrist she had grabbed was about to curse at her, but she froze when she saw Nicole’s face.” What… Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you were someone else.”

Cola bared his teeth and lowered himself into an attack stance. The socialites went pale and backed away with startled cries.

Since it was only a misunderstanding, Nicole let it go and led Cola away.

The women were furious. Once the vicious dog was safely out of range, one of them snapped, “What is wrong with her? She has no manners at all!”

“Which family is she from? I’ve never seen her before.”

“Just look at what she’s wearing. She must live in one of those run-down villas.”

“She really does look a lot like Camila, though.”

Nicole couldn’t be bothered to argue with them, but that didn’t mean she had no temper. She could overlook the HOA excluding her, but no one had even sent her a notice about the fee, much less come by to collect it.

They were clearly looking down on her.

Fine. If they didn’t want her contribution, she certainly wasn’t going to deliver it herself.

Every medicinal plant they had collected from Mount Graypine had survived. The two mysterious herbs they had brought back from Mount Cedar were also beginning to thrive under her careful attention.

It took Nicole two days to propagate all of them through cuttings and root division.

She harvested the faster-growing medicinal herbs with a sickle, then washed and chopped them before spreading them out to dry. Once they were ready, she sorted and stored them for future use.

She also transplanted one wyrmleaf into a pot and placed it in the rooftop greenhouse. She planned to gradually expose it to the extreme climate, then compare it with the one growing in her storage space to see whether its medicinal properties changed.

Medicine was different from everything else. Even a small mistake could turn a cure into something deadly.

According to the latest official announcement, the new district’s trading market was now open. It included government-run shops and open stalls, mostly selling everyday necessities. Anyone who needed something could go there to trade.

Nicole planned to look around, familiarize herself with the new district, and pick up any useful supplies she came

across.

With security patrols running around the clock, the neighborhood was safe for the time being.
