“Mr. Blackwood, please enjoy your meal. If anything doesn’t suit your taste, I’ll remake it immediately.

“Mr. Blackwood, try the asparagus. Ms. Green prefers lighter dishes, so I used less oil. If you want something richer, I can make a creamy baked version.”

Thora frowned slightly and went downstairs.

As soon as she entered the dining room, she saw Darius already seated, while Howard hovered around him like a devoted host. Darius looked completely at home, as if this were his villa.

“No need to fuss, Howard. Go do your other work,” Darius said politely, his voice gentle but final.

“Of course, Mr. Blackwood. Just call if you need anything,” Howard replied eagerly. As he turned, he even gave Thora an obvious wink.

Thora walked over, her voice cool. “Howard, if you’re that free, go walk around the mall or trim the roses.”

She was irritated that he was treating Darius like the owner instead of a guest.

But Howard misunderstood that Thora wanted some alone time.

He instantly caught the “message” and beamed, wrinkles folding with his smile. “Got it! Enjoy your dinner with Mr. Blackwood. I’ll come back later to clean up!”

Before Thora could explain, he had already rushed out.

She seriously wondered if Howard’s understanding skills were broken.

Darius’ eyes were already fixed on Thora, heat flickering in them.

She had just showered. A loose cotton robe hung around her body. Water still clung to the tips of her hair. A light citrus scent lingered in the air, making his nose itch.

With Darius’ sharp senses, it wasn’t hard to tell she was probably wearing nothing under the

robe.

His gaze slid to her neckline just in time to see a droplet fall from her ear, trace her graceful collarbone, and disappear into the robe.

Darius swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. He quickly turned his gaze to the decorative vase

by the wall.

“What are you staring at?” Thora asked, frowning.

Watching him zone out at an empty vase was strange.

“Nothing. My neck and shoulders are stiff-just stretching.” Darius turned back with a calm smile, though he quietly clenched the napkin.

Thora didn’t think much of it and picked up her utensils.

Now, only the two of them were left in the dining room. The crystal chandelier cast a warm glow over the table, filling the space with quiet intimacy.

But just as her fork touched the steak, she paused and said flatly, “You’ve got a nosebleed.”

Only then did Darius feel the warmth at his nose. He grabbed a napkin and pressed it there, forcing a calm tone. “It’s nothing. It’s just too warm here.”

Inside, he was scolding himself nonstop. They had kissed and hugged before. How was he still losing control just from seeing her like that? That was embarrassing!

Amie laughed softly inside Thora’s mind, tail wagging.

“What are you laughing at now?” Thora asked through the mind-link.

Amie replied meaningfully, “His ‘heat’ isn’t just from the temperature.”

Everyone was acting strangely.

Thora didn’t dwell on it. She focused on cutting her steak-she was really hungry.

She usually ate in silence, but Darius clearly wanted attention, starting a new topic every few minutes. When she ignored him, he just kept going.

For example-

“Thora, are the mushrooms on your plate good?

She didn’t reply.

“Are they good?”

Her knife paused. Gritting her teeth, she said, “They’re fine.”

His eyes lit up as he pushed further. “Then feed me one bite?”
