Today, Wolffang Unit members assembled at the base for a group training combat exercise.

Like usual, they split into two teams-one led by Harvey, the other by Tristan-rookies

versus veterans.

“Wait. This time, Ashton is leading Harvey’s team,” Thora said suddenly.

Everyone turned to look, especially Ashton and Harvey. Even Tristan raised an eyebrow in surprise.

“Me?” Ashton looked confused, wondering if he’d misheard.

“Yep. You’re in full command this round,” Thora said firmly, no hesitation in her voice.

Shirley and Luke didn’t object, and Harvey even patted Ashton’s shoulder. “You’ve this!”

Ashton was stunned.

In past matches, Harvey always led the way. Ashton usually just followed along, making minor adjustments. He’d never taken full control

It wasn’t that he lacked skill-it was a habit.

Imitating Harvey’s usual tone, Thora added, “You’ve got this.”

Ashton snapped to attention and saluted right away. “Yes, Commander Green!”

Tristan, always straightforward, whistled at Harvey’s team. “With Ashton calling the shots, he’s way tougher than Harvey.”

The blatant provocation instantly lit the fuse between both sides.

“Perfect. Let’s settle old grudges and new ones at the same time,” Tristan said with a smirk, his eyes locked on Ashton, full of mischief.

Ashton’s face flickered with guilt. He awkwardly rubbed his nose.

It had been meant as a joke, but he didn’t expect that Tristan still hadn’t realized their boss was a girl after two years.

He must be blind.

Thora watched them, confused.

She had assumed the hospital incident before was just Tristan stirring up trouble. She hadn’t realized there was a deeper history between them.

But she’d never stepped in with team disputes. For the past two years, they handled things themselves. At worst, they fought. Whoever hit harder got the final say.

Some bonds were meant to grow wild.

“Get ready for training!” Thora barked.

“Yes, Commander Green!”

Meanwhile, Wendy had just finished a vocal teaching seminar. She said goodbye to her assistant in the music academy parking lot. The moment she opened her car door, she was abducted.

The attackers moved fast. One hand covered her mouth as they dragged her into a vehicle. A black cloth was thrown over her eyes.

Wendy fought to stay calm. Her voice trembled, but she tried to keep it steady. “Who are you? We can talk! My son is a soldier. If you want money, I can pay. Don’t hurt me!”

A mocking voice came from the front. “Oh? Your son is a soldier? What unit?”

Wendy hardened her tone, trying to intimidate them. “He’s in active-duty special forces. You’d better think carefully and let me go right now!”

“Stop bluffing!” a low voice snapped. “Do you really think anyone can just become special forces?”

“I’m serious!” Wendy blurted. Only then did the reality of her son’s role hit her-special forces wasn’t something earned easily.

The men in the car exchanged looks, grinning.

Wendy tried to speak again, but her mouth was covered, leaving only muffled noises.

“Shh.” A deep voice cut in. Wendy instantly froze

She tried to control her panic. If it were just about ransom, cooperating might keep her alive.

She didn’t know how long they drove before the car finally stopped.

“Get out.”

Wendy was shoved out and stumbled, completely unsure where she was.

“Commander Green, we’ve brought her,” a man said respectfully.
