Chapter 239 Sudden Change
Wendy turned pale. “What are they doing? Are they seriously fighting?”
“Yes,” Thora replied in a low voice.

“Then why aren’t you stopping them? Didn’t you say this was just a drill?” Wendy panicked.
Her son looked sharp and commanding, but he didn’t need real fists and bare-knuckle brawls to show it. Those fights were insanely dangerous
In Wendy’s eyes, Ashton had always been fragile—a skinny kid she had to protect. How could he possibly take on a muscle-bound powerhouse like Tristan?

“Who says you can’t fight during a military drill? Thora shot back coldly.
Wendy fell silent, intimidated by Thora’s presence.
“Do you have any idea how many times the Wolfang Unit has risked their lives against real enemies over the past two years?” Thora’s gaze stayed on the screen. Each word hit Wendy like a hammer. “Do you know how many times they were hurt? And how many times did they barely make it back alive?”
Wendy went quiet immediately. Flustered, she turned back to the monitors.
Compared to what Thora described, this fight really was nothing.
She even felt a bit selfish. Wishing for her son to live a “safe and peaceful” life suddenly seemed naive and fragile.
By now, Ashton and Tristan were throwing punches.
Since it was an internal match, neither used the wolf powers-just pure hand-to-hand combat.
Thora tracked every move intently, her eyes sharp like a high-speed radar. The moment a strike was thrown, she could instantly analyze its flaws.
To her, everything looked like it was moving in extreme slow motion. She could precisely predict the force, the impact, and the damage of every move.
It was obvious Ashton couldn’t match Tristan and was soon pushed back.
Still, Ashton was quick on his feet. Even as he los ground, he didn’t collapse right away.
It was the first time the two had fought face-to-face. Everyone else stared in shock.

They had assumed Ashton wouldn’t last five moves before being taken out. Reality proved them completely wrong.
Not only did Ashton avoid getting taken out instantly-he actually lasted against Tristan for a while.
In the end, though, the power difference was too big. Ashton was soon crushed, held down, and beaten by Tristan.
Even so, every time Ashton hit the ground, as long as he could still move, he dragged himself back up and kept going.
To the Wolffang members, that was nothing unusual.
But for Wendy, every hit felt like it landed on her own heart, making her whole body shake with pain.
More than once, she wanted to ask Thora to end the fight. But seeing Thora’s intense focus, she swallowed the words.
On the screen, Ashton was bruised all over, yet his eyes were hard and burning, filled with a stubborn will she couldn’t fully understand.
No one else reacted at all, as if this outcome was completely normal. Their looks held the same quiet approval.
Watching her son grow stronger with every strike, something hot and unfamiliar surged up from deep inside Wendy’s chest.
She clenched her fists and suddenly yelled, “Go, Ashton! Don’t give up! Hit him back!”
The shout came out of nowhere in the monitoring room. Thora was startled and turned with a frown.
But when she saw the light in Wendy’s eyes, her brows slowly relaxed. She turned back’ toward the screen.
Maybe sometimes, fighting was the only fix.
Suddenly, Thora’s gaze sharpened, her entire bly tensing.
