Chapter 276 The Real First Round Begins
Ashley’s words didn’t surprise Thora.
Fifilshed
She had already thought there might be a shortcut-she just wasn’t sure if Ashley’s idea was the same as hers.
It seemed they were thinking along the same lines. For now, Thora felt she could trust Ashley.
She looked at Number 79 but didn’t ask if he was coming with them.
“She’s right,” Number 79 said in a flat voice and walked toward the shortcut.
Thora frowned. She gave Ashley a quick look, then followed with Luke,
At this point, taking the shortcut was the only way to avoid getting eliminated. Number 79’s choice was exactly what she expected.
Ashley kept her eyes on Number 79’s back as a faint smirk crossed her lips. A cold smile flashed for a moment, then she sped up.
Just like that, a temporary group of four formed.
As soon as they stepped onto the shortcut, trouble hit the main group.
A thick fog appeared suddenly, making people lose their way, and it became harder to catch up.
Some ran out of energy and had to give up. The number of eliminations started climbing fast.
Meanwhile, Thora’s side stayed quiet.
The four ran almost side by side, though Luke fell slightly behind.
Thora knew Luke’s stamina wasn’t very strong. She grabbed most of the weight from his pack and carried it herself.
Luke felt lighter instantly, but the tension in his heart didn’t ease.
He looked around. On his left was a dangerous man wearing a silver mask, with an aura cold as ice. On his right was a tall, striking woman whose aura was strong and threatening.
Then Thora stayed in the middle, calm as ever.
A strange, heavy pressure washed over him, making him wonder whether someone as weak as him was useless to the team.
Meanwhile, in the monitoring room.
The examiners stared at the dots on the map, trying not to show how excited they were. “The other teams split up. Looks like they’re taking different paths.”
“Roman’s team has started their plan, too.”

Their system only covered the main group. Anyone who left couldn’t be watched live-the system could only track their location and vital status through wristbands.
On the screen, four red dots moved along a special path.
“Wow, didn’t expect anyone would find that shortcut this fast in the first round. If Valen sees this, he’ll freak out,” said a female examiner, arms crossed and smirking.
“But Valen hates number 230 the most.”
“Hahaha…” The examiners laughed together.
“I can’t wait to see his face when the candidate he hates does way better than expected.”
The laughter died down, and their faces turned serious.
“Now the real first round begins.”
Physical strength is just the start. Shooting skills, reconnaissance, and counter-reconnaissance are what really matter.
On this endless run, the real eliminations were only just starting.

Ryan had gotten separated from the main group, too.
The sudden fog trapped a lot of candidates in this confusing maze.
He crouched down, picked up a branch, and started drawing on the wet ground.
Using his memory from the starting point, he carefully traced each part of the map, marking every turn exactly.
When he reached the part he was at now, he froze.
“So that’s how it is!” he whispered.
His eyes narrowed, and a small, confident grin appeared on his face.
Just as he was about to get up, a sudden gust of wind hit from behind.
Ryan rolled across the ground, and the moment he rose, his combat knife was already firmly in his hand.
The fog hid the attacker’s face. All he could see was the black gun barrel emerging straight from the fog, pointing right at him.
His face tightened. He tried to switch from knife to gun and instinctively rolled to the side.
But the shot came faster than his movement.
Bang! A heavy thud followed as something hit the ground.
Ryan looked up, frowning. Someone had collapsed, and the gun that had been pointing at him fell to the
