The instant Thora’s words fell, Draven was the first to turn his head. A second later, every eye snapped to her.

“No!” Mona shouted, lunging forward to block her.

Thora stopped, studying Mona with open suspicion.

Shirley also looked over. Under Thora’s piercing gaze, Mona shrank back, teeth sinking into her lip, her courage evaporating.

“And why not?” Shirley snapped before Thora could speak. “Go on. Say it.” She already hated the thought of Thora putting herself in danger, and someone cutting in first lit her temper.

Mona glared at Shirley, then looked back at Thora, her voice trembling. “Y-you’ll die…”

Shirley went still. That was it? That was her reason?

Thora paused briefly, then ignored her entirely and turned to Luke. “Can we still adjust enemy stats?”

Luke shook his head. “No. These are fixed NPCs. Their data’s locked.”

“Understood.” Thora frowned slightly, then faced Tristan and the others. “You stay behind and guard Luke. And …”

She looked through the fence again, voice hard and unwavering. “I need you to blast me a

route.”

Her decision was final. No one here doubted her calls; they were always right.

Then Draven stepped in, his tone cold and forceful. “You’re not going.”

Thora frowned and met his stare head-on.

It was Tristan’s first time seeing the man bound to Thora by fate.

He’d heard Ashton mention that this guy had forced the bonding through underhanded means. Tristan had been annoyed from the start, and now he spoke up without hesitation. “I follow her decision.”

“Same,” Luke said immediately.

“Me too,” Shirley added, stepping forward.

Ryan started to say something, but when Draven’s gaze swept over him, he shut his mouth. Getting between bonded partners was a lose-lose situation. He chose silence.

The Wolffang Unit had always treated Thora’s orders as absolute. They would never be the reason she slowed down.

Draven’s expression darkened, anger tightening his jaw.

Nearby, the blond man watched with clear interest, like he’d just stumbled onto something entertaining.

Thora didn’t argue. She never did. Mona and Draven trying to stop her was unexpected but irrelevant.

Her choice stirred shame in several examinees. A few hotheads even felt the urge to follow her; if they called themselves elites, how could they stand aside?

“More people only means more deaths.” Thora shut it down instantly. “Efficiency matters. I don’t waste lives.”

She scanned the crowd calmly, adjusted her posture and equipment, then gave a short, sharp command. “Cover me.”

“Yes!” Tristan and the others answered together.

The moment the words left her mouth, Thora moved. Knife in hand, she cleared the sixteen- foot fence in one clean motion.

Sharp and decisive. It was too fast for anyone to stop her.

As soon as her hands touched the wire, Tristan and the team opened fire, tearing into the monsters packed near the fence.

Gunshots rang out, and only then did everyone realize Thora was already in the swarm.

No orders were needed. The examinees raised their weapons and unleashed everything they had at the monsters along the fence. In that instant, they finally fought as one.

Thora tore through the horde the moment she landed. Draven’s eyes hardened; iron-spiked gauntlets snapped over his right hand as he vaulted the fence after her.

After skewering a monster clean through the skull, Thora glanced back and saw him charging in. Her gaze sharpened, so he followed.

Ashley let out a soft laugh and flipped over the fence amid the shocked gasps.

The blond man leapt after her in a single bound.
