The Apocalyptic Queen's Werewolf Journey (Thora and Darius) novel Chapter 41

**Shadows Hearts by Joseph King**
**Chapter 41: Fork Through the Table**

Thora’s POV:

I cast another glance at the girl standing before me, a mere child of perhaps 14 or 15, with a face that radiated innocence and charm. Her features were undeniably cute, and I felt a flicker of warmth as I extended my hand toward her, a faint smile gracing my lips. “I’m Thora Green.”

The moment our hands met, an unexpected surge of wolf power coursed through my fingertips, sending a shiver down my spine. The wolf spirit within her was remarkably potent, yet it spilled forth chaotically, like a tap that had been carelessly left running. It was evident that her energy was in disarray, teetering on the brink of instability.

“Thora, nice to meet you! From now on, you’re my friend!” she declared with an exuberance that caught me completely off guard.

Before I could muster a response, a voice, unfamiliar yet commanding, broke through the air.

“Shirley.”

A tall, strikingly handsome man approached us, his presence magnetic. He appeared to be no older than 20, but unlike the stereotypical heirs of werewolf nobility, he exuded an air of restraint and composure that was refreshing.

Upon seeing him, Shirley’s demeanor shifted instantly; her face lit up with a radiant smile. “Oliver!”

The transformation was captivating. When she smiled like that, her adorable face seemed to glow, and even I found myself charmed by her innocence.

However, Oliver’s reaction was far from enthusiastic. He placed a firm hand on Shirley’s shoulder, his knuckles pressing down slightly, and I sensed a gentle stream of wolf power emanating from his palm. It flowed into her, calming the chaotic energy that had been spilling out uncontrollably.

“I remember your father grounded you, didn’t he? Sneaking out again?” he asked, his tone both teasing and serious.

Shirley’s facade faltered at his words. She pouted, crossing her arms defiantly, clearly choosing to ignore his admonishment.

Once Shirley’s wolf power stabilized, Oliver turned his attention toward me, and I could see the surprise flicker across his features.

I was puzzled by his reaction; this was our first encounter, as far as I could recall.

“Have we met before?” he inquired, his voice laced with uncertainty.

“Are… you Thora?” he continued, his gaze searching mine for answers.

I nodded, curiosity piqued. “You know me?”

His smile softened, and he explained, “We have met. Darius is a good friend of mine. I was also at that racing mountain road a month ago.”

The mention of Darius sent a wave of discomfort through me. I had no fond memories associated with him. Our deal had concluded, yet he seemed intent on weaving himself into the fabric of my life, appearing when least expected. His unwelcome advances had left a sour taste in my mouth, and I felt no warmth toward his acquaintances either.
