**Shadows Hearts by Joseph King**
**Chapter 65: You Better Be Okay**
Outside the school, a palpable tension hung in the air as a formidable division of special operations forces gathered in front of Astralis College. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation, and the werewolf warriors donned expressions of grim determination. Each warrior breathed in unison, their breaths measured and controlled, signifying their readiness for whatever lay ahead.
In a swift transformation, Darius arrived in his wolf form, a magnificent creature with fur that shimmered under the fading sunlight. Without a moment’s hesitation, he made a beeline for the towering gates of the campus, his instincts guiding him. But just as he approached, Hugo, standing resolutely in front of him, raised a hand to halt his advance.
“Mr. Blackwood! Danger!” Hugo’s voice cut through the air like a knife, urgency lacing his tone.
Darius’s golden wolf eyes narrowed, focusing intently on the gates that loomed ominously before him. It was then that he noticed the faint crackling sound of electricity coursing through the metal, a warning that sent a chill down his spine.
One touch, he thought, and I’d be reduced to ashes.
“This is…,” he started, but Lorcan’s voice echoed in his mind, cutting through his thoughts. “It’s that same mysterious power we’ve encountered before!”
Understanding dawned on Darius like the first light of dawn breaking through a dark night. No wonder the Greywolf mercenaries had managed to slip away after committing heinous acts across various locations. They had an ace up their sleeve, a power that could thwart even the most determined of foes.
Shifting back to his human form, Darius frowned deeply, his mind racing with concern. “What’s the situation inside right now?” he demanded, his voice low but filled with urgency.
Hugo’s brow furrowed deeply, worry etched across his face. “Not entirely clear at the moment. But we can’t force our way in right now. They’ve taken hostages. The entire academy is under their control.”
Darius clenched his fists, feeling the weight of the situation settle heavily on his shoulders. “And the explosives?” he pressed, his heart racing.
“According to intercepted radio signals,” Hugo continued, his voice steady despite the chaos, “they’ve planted several bombs throughout the academy. An explosion already went off just now. For now, our best course of action is to trap Greywolf inside, buy more time, and formulate a new plan.”
Darius felt a darkness seep into his expression. An explosion? How many lives were at stake?
With a surge of frustration, he shoved Hugo’s hand away and stepped forward, determination fuelling his every movement. “I can’t just stand here!” he growled, the urgency of the situation igniting a fire within him.
